    Timberwolves waive guard Fred Hoiberg.

Fred Hoiberg would rather be a coach than serve in a front office role.
“My passion is in coaching,” Hoiberg said, “and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead. I am not prioritizing one over the other in respect to the NBA and college. The jobs are so different that you cannot compare them, so I plan on evaluating whatever opportunities may come independently.” Hoiberg has been linked to the Wolves and UCLA for potential coaching gigs, so it’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Bulls have fired head coach Fred Hoiberg.
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported over the weekend that Hoiberg would be coaching for his job in December now that the roster is mostly healthy, so this firing is a little sooner than expected. Chicago has lost six straight games and are second to last in the East with a 5-19 record. Associate head coach Jim Boylen will take over as the permanent head coach for the remainder of the season.

With the return of Lauri Markkanen, Fred Hoiberg might be coaching for his job with the Bulls now somewhat healthy, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
They’re still without starting point guard Kris Dunn and forward Bobby Portis, but Cowley suggests that Hoiberg and the Bulls need to show improvement over the next month in order for the coach to continue on. They’ve started the season 5-19 and look to be going nowhere fast, and even in rebuilding mode, it might cost Hoiberg his job.
