Trae Young (right rib sprain) and David Roddy (illness) will play against the Knicks on Wednesday.
Young was expected to play in this game despite an early exit on Monday, so his availability isn’t a surprise. Roddy was a late addition to the injury report, but this illness won’t hold him out. Roddy has played a large bench role for the Hawks recently due to all the injuries, and that should continue in this game. However, on a day with 12 games, there are likely better streaming options out there.
  • ATL Shooting Guard #5
Dyson Daniels accounted for 16 points (7-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers in 25 minutes in Sunday’s win over the Pelicans.
After missing two games with a strained right hip flexor, Daniels returned to the starting lineup on Sunday. He only played 25 minutes, which is unsurprising given the injury. The question is whether he’ll play in Monday’s matchup with Boston, the first of four games Atlanta plays during Week 3. If Daniels sits, Garrison Mathews (11/3/1 with three 3-pointers in 20 minutes) and David Roddy (8/3/3 with two 3-pointers in 26 minutes) are two options to fill the resulting void in the starting lineup.
  • ATL Power Forward #8
David Roddy got the start on Wednesday and contributed 17 points (5-of-10 FGs), four rebounds, one assist, two steals and one triple against the Wizards.
Atlanta’s wing rotation has been dropping like flies, which gave Roddy the opportunity to start for the first time as a Hawk. De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Dyson Daniels and Vit Krejci were all sidelined, so Roddy filled out a bigger starting lineup around Trae Young. He has never been impactful in fantasy basketball, but if Atlanta continues to deal with this many injuries, Roddy may be worth streaming in deeper formats. He’s currently rostered in just 1% of Yahoo leagues, so he shouldn’t be difficult to find on the waiver wire.
  • ATL Power Forward #8
Trae Young, Zaccharie Risacher, David Roddy, Jalen Johnson, and Clint Capela will start Wednesday’s game against the Wizards.
The Hawks have been hit hard by injuries recently, hence the changes to the starting lineup. Risacher remains due to De’Andre Hunter’s continued absence, while Roddy steps in for Dyson Daniels. While a risky streaming play, the Hawks’ lack of options makes Roddy worth the risk.
  • ATL Power Forward #8
David Roddy shot 4-of-5 from the field and 1-of-3 from the foul line in Sunday’s loss to Oklahoma City, scoring 10 points with five rebounds, three assists, and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes.
Zaccharie Risacher was the biggest beneficiary once De’Andre Hunter (knee) was ruled out, with the rookie moving into the starting lineup. However, Roddy and Garrison Mathews (14 points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals, and four 3-pointers in 21 minutes) also benefitted, and they played well in Oklahoma City. While neither is a must-stream player heading into Week 2, Roddy and Mathews should be tracked in deep leagues. Atlanta opens its four-game week with two against Washington, making it possible for a reserve or two to set themselves apart.
  • ATL Power Forward #21
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Suns are trading David Roddy to the Hawks in exchange for E.J. Liddell.
A first-round pick of the 76ers in 2022, Roddy began his NBA career in Memphis before being traded to the Suns at the February deadline. At the time of the trade, he was in the midst of his best season as a professional. However, Roddy did not crack the Suns’ rotation, as Royce O’Neale was the preferred choice. After playing for the Suns at the NBA 2K25 Summer League in hopes of improving his standing in the team’s wing pecking order, Roddy is headed to Atlanta and will attempt to crack that rotation. With first-overall pick Zaccharie Risacher, De’Andre Hunter, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Dyson Daniels all in the mix, Roddy faces long odds of becoming a reliable fantasy option.
  • PHX Power Forward #21
David Roddy shot 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-3 from the foul line in Wednesday’s 100-99 win over Thunder, scoring 21 points with six rebounds, five assists, one steal, one block, and four 3-pointers in 28 minutes.
Roddy had an excellent night, scoring 21 points to help lead the Suns to their first summer league win. His final three points came from the foul line, as he was fouled on a 3-point attempt with just over one-second remaining. Roddy is looking to prove he deserves consistent rotation minutes once the season begins, as he could not get that kind of run after being acquired from the Grizzlies in February. However, Roddy is not a player who has to be selected in fantasy drafts, especially with the Suns re-signing Royce O’Neale.
  • PHX Small Forward #00
Royce O’Neale and David Roddy will be available to make their respective Suns debuts in Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
The Suns acquired O’Neale and Roddy in a three-team trade with the Nets and Grizzlies to strengthen the team’s bench. The former is the more significant addition due to the combination of defensive versatility and 3-point shooting. Fantasy managers can afford to take a conservative approach with O’Neale and Roddy, waiting until their places within the rotation are defined before making a move.
  • PHX Power Forward #21
David Roddy has been traded to the Suns as part of a three-way deal, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Suns acquired both Roddy and Royce O’Neale while only giving up some second-round picks and pick swaps. Roddy should provide Phoenix with a little extra depth, though for fantasy purposes, he currently ranks outside the top-300 over the course of the season. He has played 23.2 minutes per game this year, and it is unlikely that he sees that large of a role with his new squad. He was likely already on the waiver wire in most leagues, and he should remain there now that he is playing on a contending team.
  • MEM Power Forward #21
David Roddy finished Tuesday’s 123-113 loss to the Knicks with 15 points (6-of-11 FGs, 0-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, three assists, and three 3-pointers in 23 minutes.
With Santi Aldama back in action, Roddy came off the bench on Tuesday. He was still effective in his role, being one of seven Grizzlies to reach double figures. Rostered in six percent of Yahoo leagues, he’s ranked well outside the top 200 in 8-cat per-game value over the past two weeks. Even with Memphis’ many injuries, Roddy isn’t a player who should be rostered in most leagues. Fantasy managers can afford to wait for a night when the Grizzlies are low on options to stream him.
