  • SAS Shooting Guard
Darius Washington Jr., who is just trying to make the Spurs’ team, flirted with a triple-double on Thursday, finishing with 18 points, nine boards and eight assists in a win over the Warriors.
He also had three steals and buried a three on the night, but the chances are slim that he’ll end up on the team’s final regular-season roster.
  • SAS Shooting Guard
The Spurs have assigned guard Darius Washington to their D-League affliliate, the Austin Toros.
Washington didn’t have any fantasy value, and probably won’t be recalled unless Jacque Vaughn or Tony Parker are injured.
  • BKN Coaching Staff
Jacque Vaughn has returned for the Spurs, and rookie Darius Washington has barely played since. In addition, Ian Mahinmi was de-activated to make room for Vaughn on the Spurs’ roster.
Washington and Mahinmi could both end up in the Developmental League sooner rather than later, but Vaughn doesn’t have any value either, unless Tony Parker goes down.

Jacque Vaughn started as the Spurs’ point guard on Thursday in place of injured Tony Parker (ankle), and finished the game with seven points on 1-of-7 shooting, four rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes.
Parker is expected to miss one or two more games for the Spurs, so Vaughn could theoretically have some short-term value. Seldom-used backup guard Darius Washington also got some burn, finishing with three points in 11 minutes. Judging by the numbers they put up in this game, we can’t recommend that you pick up either of these guys.

Darius Washington Jr. was waived by the Spurs on Friday.
This may not be the last time he’s cut by the team, as he could be re-signed by them again later.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, Spurs’ coach Gregg Popovich “plans to get Darius Washington, the team’s only healthy backup point guard behind Tony Parker, a heaping helping of minutes early in the year.”
“We might as well find out what he can do,” Popovich said. “It might be that he turns into a hell of a player.” It might be, but he only scored four points in eleven minutes on Wednesday, so don’t get too fired up.

This is his second trip down to the minors this year.

The Mavericks waived guard Darius Washington on Friday.
It looks like the final roster decision for the Mavericks is between guard Jose Barea and forward Ndudi Ebi.
