Danny Green has announced his retirement from the NBA after 15 seasons.
Green has only played in 13 games over the last two seasons, but that shouldn’t discredit his career. He suited up for six different organizations during his career, including two stints in both Cleveland and Philadelphia. He won championships with the Spurs, Raptors and Lakers, though the best seasons of his career were in San Antonio. He has already spent time over the last few years working in media, so expect to continue to see Green around on social media and on TV discussing hoops.
  • PHI Small Forward #14
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Danny Green was waived by the 76ers on Tuesday after the team acquired Robert Covington, Marcus Morris, KJ Martin and Nicolas Batum from the Clippers for James Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev.
The veteran signed with Philly in early September but will now look to find a new team. He offers a 3-and-D skillset that should still be valuable to a contender, but Green’s days of fantasy relevance are long behind him.
  • PHI Small Forward #14
Danny Green signed with the 76ers on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Green returns to Philly after just one year away, which he spent with the Grizzlies and Cavs. He hasn’t been very productive in fantasy over the last few years, but he’s a solid veteran and a good 3-and-D option. Still, he shouldn’t be making any waves in fantasy hoops.
  • CLE Shooting Guard #5
Sam Merrill led Cleveland with 17 points (6-for-12 FGs), four rebounds, one assist, three steals and three 3-pointers in a 106-95 loss to Charlotte on Sunday.
Cleveland has been locked in as the 4th seed in the East for a while, but they still started this game with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley. They each played 12 minutes before sitting the rest of the game. That allowed for plenty of other guys to get involved in the box score, and Merrill led the way with 17 points. Raul Neto and Danny Green each added 13 points off the bench, and Robin Lopez was the only other player to score in double figures. None of these guys will play in their next game, which will be at home against New York in their first playoff game without LeBron James since the 1997-98 season.

Danny Green shot 8-of-14 from the field in Thursday’s 118-94 win over Orlando, accumulating 21 points, three rebounds, two assists, three steals, one block, and five 3-pointers in 26 minutes.
Seeing action for the first time since March 17, Green made the most of his opportunity to log rotation minutes. The 21 points and five 3-pointers represent season-highs for the veteran wing, who did not make his season debut (with the Grizzlies) until February 1 due to his recovery from a torn ACL suffered during last season’s playoffs. Expecting Green to vault into the postseason rotation on the strength of one performance may be a bit much, but he certainly showed what he can provide on both ends of the floor if his name is called. Fellow reserves Isaiah Mobley (18/4/1/3/2 with two 3-pointers) and Mamadi Diakite (13/8/1/1/1 with one 3-pointer) also played well in Orlando, but their chances of cracking the postseason rotation are far slimmer than Green’s. At a minimum, Mobley and Diakite should play plenty in Sunday’s game against Charlotte.

  • ATL Shooting Guard #3
Caris LeVert has been ruled out for Thursday’s game against the Magic with a sore right knee.
LeVert has been ruled out after logging 36 minutes off the bench in Tuesday’s win over Orlando. Cleveland is locked into the 4-seed in the East, which makes Thursday a good time to sit the team’s most important players. Danny Green, who was a DNP-CD on Tuesday, will have the opportunity to figure prominently in the rotation, and Sam Merrill may play some as well.

Danny Green (health and safety protocols) and Raul Neto (strained left hamstring) are available for Friday’s game against the Knicks.
Green and Neto were cleared shortly before tipoff. However, neither has been in the rotation on most nights when healthy. This will not impact fantasy basketball.

Danny Green (health and safety protocols) and Raul Neto (strained left hamstring) are questionable for Friday’s game against the Knicks.
There’s now a chance that Green and Neto will be available for Friday’s game, but neither is in the rotation on most nights. Fantasy managers can find better options on the waiver wire, especially with 13 games being played on Friday.

  • FA Small Forward #14
Danny Green (health and safety protocols) will remain sidelined for Friday’s matchup with the Knicks.
Green was in league protocols on Tuesday after missing Sunday’s game with an illness. Given the time missed, he could be back against Indiana on Sunday, but he hasn’t been part of their rotation when healthy, so this won’t impact fantasy basketball.

  • FA Small Forward #14
Danny Green (illness) will not play in Sunday’s game against the Rockets.
Green hasn’t been in the rotation on most nights when healthy, so his absence won’t significantly impact fantasy basketball.
