Alexander, signed three days ago, is attempting to make the Kings as a reserve.

“I’ve been working my butt off,” Alexander said. “I’m just going to wait and see how it plays itself out. But I’m progressing a lot quicker and a lot better than anyone thought I would.” The shooting guard would only be a reserve if he does return.

Alexadner suffered a torn right Achilles’ tendon during the preseason.

Alexander, a restricted free agent, hasn’t received much interest from teams. The Hornets will wait until next month to decide whether to re-sign him.

Alexander has missed two games because of a strained left groin. He returned to practice on Monday.

Alexander, who missed last season with a torn Achilles’ tendon, has averaged 9.0 points in 187 games since being drafted 13th overall four years ago. If healthy, he should have a spot on the Kings as a reserve.

Alexander said he has fully recovered from a torn Achilles’ tendon. He plans to begin working out for other teams later this month.

Alexander should just be happy he made the team. At the moment, he’s the only player the Kings are placing on the injured list, which comes as good news to Doug Christie owners. Greg Ostertag also is being included on the active roster.

Alexander, who was signed four weeks ago, hasn’t given the Kings any reason to keep him as a reserve.

The Kings might look to bring Alexander back when he’s healthy. He had been on the injured list with a sore left foot.
