Corey Kispert underwent a procedure to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, and he will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season.
With just a few weeks left in the 2024-25 campaign, the last-place Wizards will be without another key option. In Kispert’s place, Kyshawn George and Justin Champagnie should continue to see increased playing time with AJ Johnson picking up a few extra minutes, too.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #24
Corey Kispert (thumb) has been sent home from the Wizards’ road trip for further evaluation.
Kispert sprained his left thumb during Saturday’s loss to the Nuggets. Already ruled out for Monday’s game in Portland, he has been sent back to the nation’s capital to have his thumb examined by team doctors. Kispert’s early return means AJ Johnson could remain in the rotation. However, fantasy managers are better served to target Kyshawn George and Justin Champagnie, who remain available in more than 70 percent of Yahoo! leagues.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #24
Corey Kispert (thumb) is out for Monday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
Kispert injured his left thumb during Saturday’s win over the Nuggets and will not play in Portland on Monday. His absence frees up additional minutes for AJ Johnson, who logged 18 on Saturday, as the Wizards were already playing without Marcus Smart. While Johnson may take on a similar role, he isn’t productive enough to merit being streamed.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #24
Corey Kispert (thumb) will not return to Saturday’s game against the Nuggets.
During Saturday’s game, Kispert sprained the thumb on his left (non-shooting) hand and was ruled out for the rest of the night. He played 15 minutes and finished with four points, two rebounds, and one assist. If Kispert misses time, his absence may be offset by Khris Middleton, who played 20 minutes on Saturday. There may also be minutes available for AJ Johnson, especially with the Wizards prioritizing the development of their young players.
  • WAS Small Forward #18
Kyshawn George (jaw) is questionable to play against the Jazz on Wednesday.
George exited early from Monday’s loss after suffering a jaw contusion, and the same injury could keep him out against Utah. Justin Champagnie and Corey Kispert are both candidates to replace him in the starting unit, and both should see extra minutes if George is sidelined.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #24
Corey Kispert accumulated 20 points (6-of-13 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), three rebounds, one assist, one block and five three-pointers in 26 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Trail Blazers.
After scoring 13 points on 4-of-15 shooting in games against the Magic and Nets, Kispert got back on track Wednesday night. He’s scored 20 points or more in two of his last five games and can provide solid three-point value. Before that two-game slump, he ripped off a run of seven straight games in double figures, averaging 16.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 3.3 three-pointers while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Kispert is only rostered in seven percent of Yahoo! leagues; he’ll be worth a dice roll in deep leagues for Saturday’s game against the Hornets.
  • WAS Point Guard #15
Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
Brogdon hasn’t played since the All-Star break, and it’s unclear when he might suit up next. Bub Carrington and Corey Kispert will continue to see extra minutes with the 32-year-old point guard sidelined.
  • WAS Point Guard #15
Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) will miss Monday’s matchup with the Nets.
Brogdon has yet to play post All-Star break, and there’s no timeline for his return. Bub Carrington and Corey Kispert should see additional run for as long as he’s sidelined.
  • WAS Point Guard #15
Malcolm Brogdon (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Magic.
Brogdon sprained his left ankle before the All-Star break, and Sunday’s game will be the second that he’s missed. With Khris Middleton (ankles) also out, more minutes will be available to Bub Carrington and Corey Kispert, with the former likely moving into the starting lineup. Both players are worth streaming in this spot.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #24
Corey Kispert shot 6-of-11 from the field in Friday’s loss to the Bucks, scoring 16 points with two rebounds, two assists, and four three-pointers in 23 minutes.
Rostered in eight percent of Yahoo leagues, Kispert can have some value for category league managers seeking three-point production. Over the past two weeks, he’s averaged 16.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 three-pointers per game, shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Over his last three outings, Kispert has shot 12-of-21 from beyond the arc. He may not offer the upside of the Wizards’ rookies (Alexandre Sarr, Bub Carrington, and Kyshawn George) or second-year wing Bilal Coulibaly. Still, Kispert may be worth a look during the “silly season.” There’s no need to add him now, but deep-league managers should have Corey’s name on their watch lists.
