Recently signed James Singleton scored 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting (no threes) with nine rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes off the bench on Friday.
He took the minutes of the other Singleton, Chris, who played 19 total with eight points, two threes, and not much else. If James can do it again, we’ll start talking, but not until then.
  • SAC Center #00
JaVale McGee came off the bench for nine points, six rebounds and one block in just 16 minutes in Wednesday’s loss to the Magic.
McGee is in Randy Wittman’s doghouse and it’s hard to tell how this will play out. When asked after the game if he understood the message Wittman is sending, McGee said “I can’t say I do, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out sooner or later.” That answer will obviously not help matters. Kevin Seraphin started, but played just 16 minutes, while Trevor Booker and Chris Singleton played very heavy minutes again. The Wizards don’t have many options at center, so there’s not an automatic pickup to replace McGee if he remains in the doghouse. Just monitor Seraphin for now.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #27
Jordan Crawford scored 17 points on 6-of-20 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, three steals, and a three in the Wizards’ 38-point loss to the Knicks on Friday.
The Wizards scored 65 points total and hit just 28 percent of their shots, so this box score gets pretty ugly. John Wall hit just 2-of-12 shots for eight points with five rebounds, four assists, five steals, and seven turnovers, and Chris Singleton and Jan Vesely both failed to score.
  • IND Power Forward #20
Trevor Booker scored eight points on 4-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 32 minutes on Thursday, but said after the game that it feels like he “has a nail” in his left heel as he left in a walking boot.
Uh oh. Aside from saying that he “hopes to miss no time,” Booker added that he has dealt with the pain for two months and that now it is “really intense.” If the options aren’t great on your waiver wire you may want to wait a day or so to see how this plays out, but we wouldn’t pass on a hot free agent to do it. This also slightly raises the stock of Chris Singleton, who has averaged just under a steal, block, and three over his last eight games.
  • WAS Power Forward #45
Chris Singleton tied his career-high with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting (including three treys) to go with one rebound, zero assists, two steals, and one block in 36 minutes on Thursday.
Singleton hasn’t made any real noise in the month of March, so we’re hesitant to recommend a speculative add. But with Andray Blatche looking to be a shutdown candidate and minutes clear for Singleton, let’s just say we’re intrigued with the possibilities. In his last eight games he has averaged just under a three, steal, and block per game in 26 minutes, providing late-round to borderline value.
  • WAS Power Forward #45
Wizards rookie Chris Singleton scored 15 points before fouling out of Sunday’s game, making all four of his 3-pointers with eight rebounds, one assist, one steal and zero turnovers in 34 minutes.
Singleton is known as an excellent defender with shaky offensive skills, and he’s shooting just 36.1 percent from the field this season (32.6 percent from downtown). It’s helpful that almost 40 percent of his shot attempts are 3-pointers, but we’re not going to bite unless he does this a few more times.
  • WAS Power Forward #45
Chris Singleton ranked 56th out of 63 qualifying small forwards in player effeciency rating this season.
It’s a fancy way of saying that Singleton was staunchly unimpressive as a rookie. The No. 18 overall pick started 51 of 66 games, but averaged just 4.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.7 assists. We’ll have to see progress out of him before getting behind him if he starts again next season.
  • WAS Power Forward #45
Chris Singleton scored six points on 3-of-7 shooting with six rebounds, two assists, and a block over 23 minutes in the Wizards’ 97-76 win over the Sixers on Friday.
The playing time and production are disappointing, and Singleton hasn’t done much lately, but with the injuries to the Wizards’ frontcourt he’ll be a guy to keep in the back of your mind.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
The Wizards knocked off the Heat on Saturday with the aid of Cartier Martin’s 22 points, five rebounds and one steal -- he made 8-of-15 FGs, including 4-of-8 from downtown.
Martin has had a few explosive games this year, but his 38 minutes tonight were easily a season-high and we can’t expect similar numbers in Washington’s final three games. His big night marginalized starting SF Chris Singleton, whom the Wizards have more incentive to develop in end-of-season games.
  • WAS Power Forward #45
Wizards rookie Chris Singleton got into early foul trouble and finished Saturday’s game scoreless in just seven minutes of action.
The fouls hurt, and with Cartier Martin playing great off the bench Randy Wittman decided not to force Singleton back into the mix. Expect a more typical allotment of playing time vs. the Bobcats on Monday.
