The Golden State Warriors plan to retire Chris Mullin’s No. 17 jersey on January 20.
The team plans to have a ceremony during a regular season game against the Indiana Pacers. Of course, those plans will have to be altered if there isn’t a season to be played. Mullin was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame in August and spent 13 seasons with the Warriors.

The Kings have offered Chris Mullin a role in the front office as a consultant, a source told the Sacramento Bee.
Mullin’s name was in the mix for GM before the team made its hire. It’s not clear if Mullin is leaning toward accepting, but if the team does hire him, the Bee feels it would “fuel speculation” about the Kings’ pursuit of Monta Ellis. We’re not so sure about that.

The Kings have officially hired Chris Mullin to join their front office. The position is the “Advisor to the Chairman” and he should work directly with owner and chairman Vivek Ranadive and GM Pete D’Alessandro.
Mullin had a role in the Warriors front office from 2004-2009 where he met D’Alessandro, and was the person who recommended him to Ranadive as a GM candidate for the Kings.

Chris Mullin will become the St. John’s head coach for next season.
He was New York’s Mr. Basketball before playing his college ball at St. John’s and won the Wooden Award in 1985. Mullin does have some experience in the front office, but this will be his first head coaching job. His departure from the Kings could mean more responsibilities for Vlade Divac.

The Sacramento Kings are reportedly considering Chris Mullin as their next head coach.
Mullin has been serving as an advisor to Kings owner Vivek Ranadive and Ranadive is reportedly intrigued by the idea of having Mullin coach the team. Ranadive has been hands-on since taking over the Kings and thinks that Mullin could be the Kings’ version of Steve Kerr taking over for the Warriors. “All [Mullin] has to decide is that’s what he wants and the job is his,” an NBA general manager said on Monday.

Chris Mullin will not coach the Kings this season, according to Chris Broussard.
Broussard reports that Mullin is not interested in jumping into a coaching gig mid-season, so if he were to eventually take over the coaching duties, it wouldn’t be until next year. Tyrone Corbin will coach the team on an interim basis.

Chris Mullin and Maurice Cheeks have reportedly also been elected to the Hall of Fame.
They’ll join Dennis Rodman and Tex Winter, likely among some other candidates that have yet to be announced. Mullin is currently enjoying his role as a TV analyst while Cheeks is serving as an assistant on Scott Brooks’ staff for the Thunder.

Warriors management appears to be making amends with former GM and franchise icon Chris Mullin, who was let go from the organization in 2009.
Mullin was basically strong-armed by former owner Chris Cohan and team president Robert Rowell, a saga that can be read via the link below. His warming relations with the franchise don’t mean that he’ll be hired as an executive any time soon, but it’s a step in the right direction.
