Bradley Beal (sore lower back) will attempt to play against the Pistons on Saturday.
Beal warmed up before Friday’s game but was unable to go. A sore back can be a tricky injury to figure out, so he probably won’t know whether he’ll be able to go until he gives it another shot tonight in warmups. Check back before tip-off to see if the rookie will return to a Wizards team that desperately needs him. Cartier Martin’s appeal in deep leagues loses a little bit of its luster with this news.

  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin scored just seven points off the bench on Friday, hitting 3-of-9 shots (including a three) with three rebounds and one steal in 28 minutes.
We never updated him after his 20-point night last Friday, but he hasn’t done anything besides that to warrant much fantasy consideration. If he keeps getting big minutes, though, that could change.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin scored five points on 1-of-3 shooting with three rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes off the bench on Friday.
Martin had made some deep league noise but couldn’t survive the Wizards’ disaster tonight. We’ll let you know if he picks it back up.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #27
Jordan Crawford (ankle) will not play on Wednesday or in Thursday’s finale.
Crawford made just 1-of-8 shots in 20 minutes on Monday, and he might as well rest with the Wizards bound for the draft lottery. In his absence, expect to see more of Shelvin Mack, Cartier Martin and even Morris Almond. Martin started in his place on Wednesday.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin started for the Wizards on Wednesday and had seven points, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer on 3-of-10 shooting.
He should start again on Thursday against the Heat with Jordan Crawford shut down, and could be a sneaky fantasy play in the finale.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin scored 19 points against the ridiculous Bobcats on Monday, hitting 7-of-13 shots (including four threes) with six rebounds and a block in 30 minutes of garbage time action on Monday.
Martin scored 20 points on March 30, but hasn’t done anything much since then. He needs to do this again before we consider an add in any format.
  • WAS Small Forward
James Singleton scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting (6-of-7 from the foul line) with 12 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks in 37 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Bobcats.
Singleton posted 12 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes on Friday, and in this quirky season of 10-day guys exploding he’ll be worth a desperation look -- but also be as risky as they come. Should the Wizards stay banged up and starter Chris Singleton stay in the 20 mpg range, there’s a chance that Singleton or Cartier Martin (19 points) emerges with some value, but there’s a ton that could go wrong. The first thing that comes to mind is playing a real NBA team unlike the Bobcats.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin tied his career-high scoring mark with 20 points on Friday, hitting 8-of-12 shots (including four threes) with six rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
Martin has been on fire in the D-League and picked right back up where he left off after signing a 10-day contract with the Wizards. As nice as that sounds, though, we need to see more before advising an add.
  • WAS Shooting Guard #35
Cartier Martin hit a couple more threes to finish with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes on Tuesday.
He’s worth keeping an eye on after he scored 19 with four 3-pointers on Monday, as the Wizards have nothing left to play for.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #27
The Wizards played spoiler again on Saturday with a win vs. the banged-up Heat, despite Jordan Crawford scoring only seven points in 29 minutes.
Crawford’s first make was a 46-foot heave at the end of the first half, and he finished 2-of-14 from the field. Guys like Cartier Martin (22 points) and Nene (11 points) helped power the Wizards to their third consecutive victory.
