Tari Eason (left lower leg injury management) is not dressed in his uniform during team warmups.
Eason hasn’t officially been ruled out, but he is operating like a player that isn’t going to be cleared to play in this game. Cam Whitmore should once again play a significant role off the bench after scoring 27 points in their last game.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore went off in Thursday’s 128-111 win over the Pelicans, recording a stat line of 27 points (9-of-16 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and four 3-pointers in 27 minutes.
Houston being without Dillon Brooks and Tari Eason has led to Whitmore playing rotation minutes recently, and he’s reached double figures in three straight games. Thursday’s game was a combination of Whitmore playing well and the Pelicans being a bad basketball team, especially with some key players out of the lineup. Give Whitmore credit for making the most of his current opportunity, but fantasy managers should not overreact.
  • HOU Small Forward #17
Tari Eason (left lower leg injury management) is out for Thursday’s game against the Pelicans.
Eason is missing his fourth straight game Thursday. His leg injury is particularly concerning since he missed most of last season with a stress reaction in the same leg. Cam Whitmore will likely remain in the Rockets rotation with Eason out Thursday.
  • HOU Small Forward #17
Tari Eason (left lower leg injury management) is questionable for Thursday’s game against New Orleans.
Eason has missed three straight and five of Houston’s last seven games, the first two of which were due to a stint in the league’s concussion protocol. The current injury management situation is concerning because Eason missed most of last season with a stress reaction in the same leg. Cam Whitmore played 27 minutes off the bench in Monday’s win over the Hornets, and he should remain in the rotation if Eason cannot return against New Orleans.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore shot 7-of-15 from the field in Monday’s win over Charlotte, accounting for 17 points, seven rebounds, two steals, one block, and three 3-pointers in 27 minutes.
Out of the rotation for most of the season, Whitmore has been allowed to show what he can do in Houston’s last two games. After logging 14 minutes on Sunday, he played 27 on Monday as the Rockets were without Dillon Brooks. The stat line was encouraging, but fantasy managers should hold off on adding Whitmore until he establishes himself as a consistent rotation player.
  • HOU Small Forward #8
Jae’Sean Tate (lower back pain) and Cam Whitmore (left wrist contusion) are questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Warriors.
Tate and Whitmore’s statuses will not impact fantasy basketball, as they have not played consistent rotation minutes.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore (left knee soreness) is available for Wednesday’s game against the Pacers.
Whitmore is available, but this is unlikely to impact fantasy basketball. He hasn’t been in the rotation and has even spent some time in the G League recently. There’s no need to roster Whitmore in redraft leagues.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore (left knee pain) is available for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Whitmore only played eight minutes in Wednesday’s opener. And with Friday’s game being the first of a back-to-back for the Rockets, the second-year wing isn’t someone worth relying on in most fantasy leagues.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore (left knee pain) is probable for Friday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Whitmore was limited to eight minutes off the bench in Friday’s loss to the Hornets. So, even if he’s available to play against Memphis, the second-year wing isn’t worth the risk in most fantasy leagues.
  • HOU Small Forward #7
Cam Whitmore provided a boost off the bench with 17 points (6-of-8 FGS), two rebounds, one assist, three steals, one block and two 3-pointers against Utah on Monday.
Whitmore did a bit of everything off the bench in this one and had a mean poster dunk over Walker Kessler. He’ll likely play a large reserve role this season and provide the Rockets with some offense, but Dillon Brooks and Tari Eason didn’t play in this game. When the team is fully available, there may not be enough minutes and shots to go around for Whitmore to make a big impact this season.
