Giannis Antetokounmpo (right patella tendinitis) is probable for Friday’s game against the Bulls.
Giannis was also considered probable ahead of Wednesday’s win over Philadelphia, going on to play 31 minutes. Fantasy managers should anticipate the same on Friday, although an absence for the Bucks star would significantly boost Bobby Portis’ fantasy value.
  • MIL Power Forward #9
Bobby Portis recorded a stat line of 16 points (7-of-10 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs), three rebounds, three assists, two steals, one block, and one 3-pointer in 26 minutes in Wednesday’s win over the 76ers.
While he didn’t offer much value as a rebounder on Wednesday, Portis did plenty in other categories. He shot 70% from the field while accumulating three “stocks” in what proved to be a comfortable victory for the Bucks. Portis is worth rostering in most fantasy leagues, even in a reserve role.
  • MIL Power Forward #9
Bobby Portis shot 5-of-5 from three in Thursday’s exhibition game against the Lakers, accumulating 23 points (8-of-9 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), three rebounds, and one assist in 15 minutes.
Based on his performance against the Lakers, the “People’s Champ” looks ready for the regular season. Portis did not miss from beyond the arc, making all five of his attempts and leading the Bucks in scoring. Even though they don’t play the same position, Khris Middleton’s status as he recovers from two offseason ankle surgeries will boost Portis’ fantasy value in the short term. He can provide top-100 value, whether Middleton is available or not.

Bobby Portis finished Thursday’s Game 6 loss to the Pacers with 20 points (8-of-17 FGs, 3-of-7 FTs), 15 rebounds, two assists, and one 3-pointer in 36 minutes.
After losing his composure and getting ejected from Game 4, Portis posted solid stat lines in the series’ final two games. But it wasn’t enough to keep the Bucks alive, as Giannis Antetokounmpo’s absence and the team’s lack of depth was too much to overcome. Due to his consistent value as a reserve, fantasy managers did not hesitate to use a late-round pick on Portis. Boasting a Yahoo ADP of 113.2, he finished the regular season ranked just outside the top 100 in 9-cat per-game value. The 2024-25 season is the last guaranteed season on Portis’ contract, as he has a player option for 2025-26. He should again be a reliable late-round option in standard leagues this fall.

Giannis Antetkounmpo (left soleus strain) has been ruled out for Game 6 against Indiana on Thursday.
As expected, Giannis will remain sidelined for Game 6. Bobby Portis is coming off of a 29-point performance and should continue to start in his place. It is unclear if Giannis will be able to return for a potential Game 7.

Bobby Portis lit up the Pacers with 29 points (14-of-24 FGs), 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal and one triple in Game 5 on Tuesday.
After getting ejected early in Game 4, Portis was able to play the entire game on Tuesday. He was able to make up for it with his best performance of the series to help them secure the win and extend the series. He has been fantastic as a starter in place of Giannis Antetokounmpo and has a double-double in every game that he has finished this series. It’s unclear if Giannis will be back for Game 6 on Thursday, but if he isn’t, Portis will have to continue to be one of their primary scoring options.
  • MIL Power Forward #34
Giannis Antetokounmpo (left soleus strain) and Damian Lillard (right Achilles tendinitis) have been ruled out for Game 5 against Indiana on Tuesday.
As expected, Milwaukee’s two superstars will remain sidelined for Game 5. The Bucks will try to remain alive by securing a home win in this one, with Malik Beasley and Bobby Portis likely to remain in the starting unit.
  • MIL Power Forward #9
Bobby Portis has been ejected from Sunday’s matchup with the Pacers midway through the first quarter after a physical altercation with Andrew Nembhard.
Portis and Nembhard got into it with just over five minutes to play in the first quarter. Both players were given technical fouls, but Portis was ejected after throwing hands. He finished with four points and three rebounds across seven minutes. Already down Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, the Bucks will have to turn to Andre Jackson Jr., Pat Connaughton and Danilo Gallinari to pick up the slack off the bench. Gallinari could see the biggest bump in playing time for the Bucks’ depleted frontcourt.
  • MIL Power Forward #34
Giannis Antetokounmpo (left soleus strain) is out for Sunday’s game against the Pacers.
Giannis remains sidelined, and with Damian Lillard (Achilles) also out, the Bucks will be without their top two scorers for Game 4. Bobby Portis will continue to start, and while he has been solid offensively, Pacers forward Pascal Siakam has flourished on the other end of the floor.
  • MIL Power Forward #34
Doc Rivers said that he “doubts” that Giannis Antetokounmpo (left soleus strain) will play in Game 4 against Indiana on Sunday.
Rivers did say that Giannis will work out early on Sunday before they decide if he will play in Game 4, so there is still certainly a chance. However, Rivers was pessimistic about the odds. Bobby Portis should continue to start at power forward in his absence.
