Hornets officials said Friday they have no plans to shop Baron Davis.
“We built this team around Baron, and we feel very excited with the coaching staff that we have and the players we got this summer,” Hornets GM Allan Bristow said. “On the basis of that, we’re going into this season with a very competitive team, and we’re disappointed that Baron doesn’t feel that way.” Davis still hasn’t actually requested a trade. He might do so at some point, however.

Baron Davis didn’t work Monday and probably won’t play Wednesday.
Davis is day-to-day with a twisted left knee.

Baron Davis will miss a second straight game tonight with a strained left ankle.
The Hornets are saying sitting him out is just a precaution. “It didn’t feel too cool,” Davis said. “So I just decided to rest it.”

Baron Davis’ twisted knee will cause him to miss another game tonight, coach Paul Silas believes.
''I thought Baron was going to go, but he still has a little soreness,’' Silas said after practice Thursday. David Wesley and Kenny Anderson will see time at point guard tonight.

Asked about his progress with his lower back, Baron Davis said, “I ain’t ready to answer no questions. I’m in therapy.”
Davis said he definitely won’t rush back, having “learned his lesson” last time. He may be activated in the near future, so the Hornets can put Alex Garcia on the IL, but it still may be a little while before Davis is playing.

Baron Davis went through his first full practice since last month’s injury and showed some limited progress.
“I’m obviously not where I would like to be,” Davis said. “A lot of quickness is there, but I’m just waiting for explosion to come.” Davis will practice today, then participate in Tuesday’s shootaround before talking with coach Byron Scott about a return date.

Baron Davis will miss seven to fourteen days with a back injury.
This is horrible news, as an MRI revealed an inflamed disc in his lower back. Darrell Armstrong will take over his starting job until he returns.

Baron Davis (back) is not traveling with the Hornets this week. He’s in Los Angeles spending Thanksgiving with his grandmother.
Davis will rejoin the team on Sunday and is still a possibility to return the following week.

GM Allan Bristow said Baron Davis (back) is expected to go through another two weeks of rehab with team doctors in New Orleans before he returns.
Bristow talked about hopefully getting Davis back as “a Christmas present.”
