Ariel Hukporti accounted for nine points (2-of-4 FGs, 5-of-6 FTs), 13 rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks in Sunday’s loss to the Celtics.
Among the returnees in the Knicks’ summer lineup, Hukporti received the most playing time during the 2024-25 season. While the scoring output was limited, the second-year center was excellent as a rebounder and defender. Those are the areas where Hukporti will need to make an impact if he’s to crack the back end of the rotation next season. He’s worth watching this summer, especially if new Knicks head coach Mike Brown decides to start Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson together.

Ariel Hukporti (knee) is available for Saturday’s game against the Pistons.
Hukporti is back after missing over a month with a torn meniscus in his right knee. However, this is very much a “break in case of emergency” situation, as Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa are also available. Don’t expect to see Hukporti on the floor unless there are multiple injuries or the game gets out of hand.

Ariel Hukporti (knee) is questionable to play in Game 1 against the Pistons on Saturday.
Hukporti has been sidelined since February with a torn meniscus, but there is a chance he is available against Detroit. However, he won’t see the floor in a playoff game regardless of his health.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Knicks center Ariel Hukporti (knee) will miss four to six weeks.
Hukporti tore his meniscus in his first-ever start on Wednesday. He only got the start in the first place because Karl-Anthony Towns is dealing with a minor knee injury. Mitchell Robinson is nearing his 2024-25 debut and Precious Achiuwa could log a spot start or two in the back half of the week, leaving Hukporti with no fantasy value.

Ariel Hukporti (knee) finished Wednesday’s win over the 76ers with eight points (4-of-5 FGs), two rebounds and one blocked shot in 16 minutes.
Hukporti started Wednesday’s game for the injured Karl-Anthony Towns, and the rookie got an alley-oop dunk on the Knicks’ first offensive possession. However, while he did shoot the ball well, the rebounding output was limited. Making matters worse was Hukporti suffering a sprained right knee early in the third quarter. While he would return briefly, the decision was ultimately made to sit him for the rest of the night. Helping Hukporti was the work of Josh Hart (7/17/4/1/1 in 39 minutes) and Precious Achiuwa (7/6/2/0/4 in 31 minutes), who combined for 23 rebounds and five blocked shots. Those two will be critical if Towns is unavailable for Friday’s game in Memphis, regardless of what happens with Hukporti.

Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Ariel Hukporti will start Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
The Knicks will be without Karl-Anthony Towns, which may not be the worst thing due to the 76ers losing eight straight games. Hukporti will get the start, and the rookie can provide some production in the rebound and blocked shot categories. However, his fantasy ceiling is low despite being allowed to start.
  • NYK Power Forward #32
Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) is out for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers, but OG Anunoby (foot) is available.
The Knicks will play Wednesday’s game without one starter, not two. Towns’ absence pushes Ariel Hukporti into the starting lineup. The rookie can be a solid rebounder and shot-blocker, but he offers limited fantasy upside. As for Anunoby, he has struggled recently but will figure prominently in the offensive attack, especially with Towns out.
  • NYK Power Forward #32
Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) is questionable for Wednesday’s game against the 76ers.
Towns is dealing with left knee tendinopathy, which he aggravated during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Celtics. However, KAT returned to the game after a quick trip to the locker room, and he practiced on Tuesday. If Towns cannot play, Precious Achiuwa’s playing time would increase, with Ariel Hukporti playing rotation minutes off the bench.
  • NYK Center #23
Mitchell Robinson (ankle) is out for Thursday’s game against the Bulls.
Robinson fully participated in Wednesday’s practice but has not reached the point where he can play in games. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported in early February that Robinson and the Knicks were targeting a March 1 return date, so he appears to be on track to make that happen. Precious Achiuwa, who has been starting for the injured OG Anunoby, and Ariel Hukporti will play more minutes until Robinson returns.

Ariel Hukporti (illness) is available for Monday’s game against the Grizzlies.
Hukporti is available after being inactive for Saturday’s win over Sacramento. His availability does not impact fantasy basketball, as the rookie is not part of the Knicks’ rotation.
