Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün will start Thursday’s game against the Magic.
Thompson is back in the Rockets’ lineup after sitting out Wednesday’s win over the Kings, pushing Reed Sheppard to the bench. While Sheppard will remain in the rotation, his playing time will likely decrease.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson (quad) will be active on Thursday against the Magic.
Thompson was out on Wednesday, which allowed Reed Sheppard to step into the starting lineup and post 28 points with a career-high seven three-pointers made. Given how well he played, we’d have to assume that Sheppard will still see solid minutes on Thursday, but Thompson should be back in the starting lineup and play close to his normal role.
  • HOU Guard #15
Reed Sheppard recorded 28 points (9-of-21 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, two assists, one steal, one block and seven three-pointers in Wednesday’s win over the Kings.
Sheppard moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday, as the Rockets were without Amen Thompson due to a quad injury. The second-year guard certainly didn’t get cheated offensively, as he recorded career-highs in made three-pointers (seven) and three-point attempts (16). A double-figure scorer in seven straight games, Sheppard’s 28 on Wednesday were the most in a game for him since he hit that number in a December 20 win over the Jazz. Sheppard’s fantasy value for Thursday’s game in Orlando will depend on Thompson’s availability.
  • HOU Guard #15
Reed Sheppard will replace the injured Amen Thompson (quad) in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Kings.
Thompson is dealing with left quad tendonitis and will not play against the struggling Kings. Sheppard moves into the starting lineup, and the second-year guard is a worthwhile streamer in this spot. Kevin Durant, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün will complete the Rockets’ starting five.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson (quad) is out for Wednesday’s matchup with the Kings.
Thompson is dealing with left quadricep tendonitis, and the injury will cost him at least one game. In Thompson’s absence, Reed Sheppard could join the starting lineup, making him an intriguing streamer in a favorable matchup with Sacramento’s shorthanded defense.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson accounted for 12 points (5-of-9 FGs, 2-of-4 FTs), 10 rebounds, seven assists, three steals and one blocked shot in Saturday’s loss to the Knicks.
Thompson, whose defense kept Jalen Brunson under wraps for the first three quarters of Saturday’s defeat, recorded his 11th double-double of the season. All that was missing from his stat line was a three-pointer, but that has never been a strength of the third-year guard. Even with Thompson not bringing three-point value to the table, he has been a top-50 player in eight-cat formats. Given his role within the Rockets’ rotation, that should not change anytime soon.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson (illness) is available for Saturday’s game against the Thunder but will not start.
Added to the injury report early Saturday afternoon, Thompson is good to go for the matchup with Oklahoma City. However, he will not be in the starting lineup, as Reed Sheppard receives the nod. Kevin Durant, Tari Eason, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün complete the quintet.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson (illness) is questionable for Saturday’s game against the Thunder.
Thompson, a late addition to the Rockets’ injury report, has yet to miss a game this season. It goes without saying that his absence would have a significant impact on Houston’s play, especially on defense. Reed Sheppard and Aaron Holiday would be in line for additional opportunities due to the lack of on-ball playmakers.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson posted a full line on Monday with 16 points (6-of-15 FGs), 11 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks against the Pacers.
Thompson had a subpar night from the floor, but he was able to pour in the counting stats to make up for it. He came close to recording a triple-double and was still able to make a big impact on the defensive end. Thompson started the year off slowly, but he has turned into the player that managers were hoping he would be when they took him in the second and third rounds of fantasy drafts. He’ll look to keep this going against the Celtics on Wednesday.
  • HOU Guard-Forward #1
Amen Thompson recorded 21 points (7-of-15 FGs, 7-of-9 FTs), eight rebounds, nine assists and two steals in Saturday’s win over the Mavericks.
Thompson was excellent on Saturday as the Rockets held off the Mavericks. He’s scored at least 21 points in two of his last three appearances, and the nine assists recorded against Dallas equaled the athletic wing’s total in his previous two outings. Over the past month, Thompson has averaged nearly 19 points per game, which is one reason he has been a top-40 player during this stretch. The Rockets begin a four-game Week 16 on Monday against the Pacers.
