Ajay Mitchell returned to the lineup on Friday and contributed nine points (4-of-8 FGs), five assists and one steal against the Jazz.
Mitchell has been sidelined since January 3 after undergoing surgery to address a right great toe sprain. The 2024 second-round pick had some solid performances prior to his injury and was able to carve out a reserve role for a talented Thunder team. He wasn’t great in his 18 minutes on Friday, but it was good to see him back on the floor. He should play a significant role in the regular season finale in New Orleans on Sunday, but he won’t play much during the postseason.
  • OKC Point Guard #2
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (shin) and Luguentz Dort (knee) are out for Friday’s game against the Jazz.
Oklahoma City’s entire starting five is out for Friday’s game. Given that they’re locked into the top seed in the West, there’s no reason for the team not to prioritize getting everyone healthy for the postseason. Ajay Mitchell and Aaron Wiggins are two of the Thunder players who will be available on Friday, and both are worth slotting into lineups in active leagues.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell (toe) and Alex Ducas (quad) are off the injury report for Friday’s game against the Jazz.
While Ducas has not appeared in a game since March 21, Friday will be Mitchell’s first chance to play since suffering a toe injury in early January. The Thunder rotation will be shorthanded, as all five starters are out since the team has secured the top seed in the West. Mitchell and Ducas will have ample opportunities to produce as long as their injuries don’t flare up.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Thunder have signed Ajay Mitchell to a two-year, $6 million deal.
Oklahoma City waiving Daniel Theis shortly after acquiring him from New Orleans opened up a standard roster spot, and the franchise has rewarded Mitchell. The second-round pick has been out since mid-January with a right big toe injury, but that did not dissuade Oklahoma City from giving the rookie a deal. Mitchell is unlikely to impact fantasy basketball again this season.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell underwent surgery to address a turf toe sprain of his right great toe and will miss at least 10-12 weeks.
Mitchell injured his toe during Oklahoma City’s January 3 win over the Knicks and has not appeared in a game since. His absence leaves the Thunder down a rotation guard, but this will not significantly impact fantasy basketball. Given the timeline provided by Oklahoma City, Mitchell is unlikely to provide value during the fantasy playoffs.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell (right great toe sprain) will not play in Friday’s game against the Knicks.
Injured during the Thunder’s win over New York on January 3, Mitchell will miss a third consecutive game. His absence frees up additional minutes for Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe, who are already in the Thunder rotation. They’re both deep-league options at best.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell (right great toe sprain) is out for Wednesday’s game against the Cavaliers.
Mitchell injured his toe last Friday against the Knicks and also sat out Sunday’s game against the Celtics. He’s set to miss his second game with the toe injury Wednesday. Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe are set for increased playing time and can be used as streamers in deeper formats with Alex Caruso (hip) also out.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell (right great toe sprain) is out for Sunday’s game against the Celtics.
Mitchell injured his toe during Friday’s win over the Knicks, and he did not return after exiting during the third quarter. He’ll miss at least one game, meaning more playing time for Cason Wallace and Isaiah Joe. While neither has been a consistently reliable fantasy option, they’re worth a look in deep leagues, as the Thunder are also without Alex Caruso.
  • OKC Point Guard #25
Ajay Mitchell exited Friday’s win over the Knicks during the third quarter with a sprained toe.
Playing against the team that selected him in last summer’s draft (and dealt his rights to Oklahoma City), Mitchell played 13 minutes off the bench and finished with eight points (3-of-6 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs) and one rebound. Unfortunately, the rookie guard injured his toe late in the third quarter and did not return. Oklahoma City is already without Alex Caruso, so Mitchell joining him on the sideline could result in the rookie’s minutes being divided amongst Cason Wallace, Aaron Wiggins, and Isaiah Joe.
  • OKC Shooting Guard #9
Alex Caruso (left hip strain) will not play in Thursday’s game against the Clippers.
Caruso has missed Oklahoma City’s last four games, and Thursday makes five. His absence has freed up minutes for Ajay Mitchell, who, while solid, has not done enough to merit streaming consideration in fantasy leagues.
