Old-school, blues, alt-country, folk, bluegrass – and with an occasional punk-rock swagger.
It’s hard to put a label on the type of music performed by Old Crow Medicine Show.
But one thing is for sure, they’re very popular.
And fans attending the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway on April 19 will likely be tapping their toes and maybe even dancing in the stands when the two-time Grammy-winning band performs a pre-race concert that morning.
Since forming in the mid-1990s, Old Crow Medicine Show’s legacy has become well-known. Discovered by famed bluegrass musician Doc Watson outside a Boone, N.C., drug store, the old-time string sound sets OCMS apart into a class of its own.
OCMS’s biggest hit to date has been “Wagon Wheel,” which has been covered by a number of groups and artists, including Darius Rucker, who also had a hit with it.
