While Joe Gibbs is one of the most successful NASCAR owners ever, he’s still known more for his Hall of Fame coaching career in the NFL with the Washington Redskins.
His football prowess still runs in the family. His grandson, Jackson Gibbs, plays quarterback for William Amos Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina. Jackson Gibbs took to Twitter Monday to announce that he had been offered a scholarship to play for Jim Harbaugh and the University of Michigan.

According to the Detroit News, Jackson Gibbs took part in a satellite camp of Harbaugh’s in Baltimore prior to the Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway, which Harbaugh attended.
In 14 games in 2015, Gibbs threw for 13 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and 1, 748 yards. Gibbs still has his senior year to go and national signing day for his 2017 class isn’t until Feb. 1 of next year. So any number of things could change for the quarterback.
