ROSSBURG, Ohio -- Bobby Pierce, a surprise runner-up in the Aspen Dental Dirt Derby 150 last year, won the first heat Wednesday night at Eldora Speedway.
Caleb Holman finished second, transferring to the main event with Jake Griffin, Brady Boswell and John Hunter Nemechek.
Failing to transfer were Wayne Edwards, Caleb Roark and Wayne Edwards, who crashed twice.
