Austin Dillon led the way in the first of four NASCAR Xfinity Series practices Thursday at Kentucky Speedway with a lap of 187.754 mph. He was followed by Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Kyle Busch (186.968 mph) and Erik Jones (186.903). Ty Dillon (186.451) was fourth on the speed chart. Daniel Suarez (186.091) completed the top five.
Teams have additional practice time this weekend since the track has been reconfigured in Turns 1 and 2 and repaved throughout the entire 1.5-mile surface.
Brendan Gaughan, who enters the weekend sixth in the points, hit the wall in practice and will go to a backup car.
