Alex Tagliani will return to Team Penske’s No. 22 Ford for the Xfinity Series’ Aug. 20 race at Road America.
It will be Tagliani’s first NASCAR national series event since last year’s Camping World Truck Series race at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. His last visit to the Xfinity Series came last year at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. That day, the former Indianapolis 500 pole-sitter started second and led 38 laps before Regan Smith booted him in the final turn of the last lap and stole the win.
Tagliani has seven starts in the Xfinity Series but has yet to win.
This year the Canadian driver has been competing in NASCAR’s Canadian-based Pinty’s Series, where he has three wins in six starts.
Before Tagliani gets in the No. 22, Ryan Blaney will drive the entry this weekend at Mid-Ohio
