Reigning Dakar Rally motorcycle champ Toby Price will not be able to defend last year’s title.
Price, of Queensland, Australia, has suffered a fractured left femur after apparently falling off his motorcycle, according to tweets from the official Dakar Rally Twitter account.
He had won stage two of this year’s rally and had come second in the first split section of today’s stage four, before his accident.

Price suffered the mishap early on in Thursday’s Stage 4. Price’s own Twitter account made no mention of an injury after Stage 3 on Wednesday, however the official Dakar Twitter noted it today.
Stage 3 winner Matthias Walkner took to Twitter before Price’s diagnosis was announced.
