  • NBA Shooting Guard #11
The Lakers have expressed interest in Monta Ellis, and have reached out to his representation according to Justin Benjamin of the Lakers Daily.
At this point in time, Los Angeles would simply like to work out Ellis according to Benjamin. Ellis has reportedly worked out for a number of NBA teams but has yet to receive a contract offer from any of them. It is probably unlikely that the Lakers do so, so until then carry on with your regularly scheduled programming.

Monta Ellis reportedly went through a recent workout with the Rockets.
It was reported last week that Ellis had gone through a workout with the Mavericks as well, so the 35-year-old, undersized two-guard is clearly trying to make an NBA comeback. He might be able to snag a training camp deal somewhere, but even if he manages to make an NBA squad’s regular-season roster, he’s well past his days of relevancy in fantasy hoops.

Monta Ellis, Isaiah Thomas and Lance Stephenson have all gone through recent workouts with the Mavericks, according to sources of Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Ellis hasn’t been in the league since 2016, and we haven’t seen Born Ready since 2018, but IT2 played three games last season for the Pelicans and he was reportedly in “great shape” at his workout. Ellis and Stephenson seem like long-shots to make an NBA comeback, but perhaps Thomas can earn another minimum-level deal to serve as an emergency depth kind of guy.

Warriors sign rookie guard Monta Ellis to a multi-year contract.
The second-round pick won’t have fantasy value this year.

Twelve teams will be in attendance at Monta Ellis and Amare Stoudamire’s Las Vegas workout on Monday, according to sources of Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports.
Both Ellis and STAT are attempting an NBA comeback, but the odds are against them after they’ve spent multiple years out of the league. Ellis is 33 years old but averaged just 8.5 points per game in his final season back in 2017 and he looked a step slow on defense. Stoudemire is 36 and has been irrelevant since 2012.

Monta Ellis will work out privately for at least five NBA teams in Las Vegas on July 8, according to Jordan Schultz of ESPN.com.
The report adds that Monta is healthy and hoping to sign with a contending team. Ellis really fell off in 2016-17 and has been out of the league since. He’ll really have to impress next week.

The trading of Derek Fisher to the Jazz opens the door for Monta Ellis to step into a high-profile role with the Warriors this season.
Fisher saw 31 minutes per game last year, splitting his time between point guard and shooting guard, and Ellis is expected to get those minutes this season. Ellis is only 20 years old and will be a popular name on fantasy sleeper lists this year.

Monta Ellis suffered a knee injury in a summer-league practice on Thursday, but the extent of the damage is not yet known.
He was driving into the lane, then pulled up just as 7-foot center Patrick O’Bryant jumped to meet him. Ellis immediately lost the ball, screamed in pain and took several steps off the court before falling to the ground. The Warriors lost Mickael Pietrus to a summer-league injury two years ago and Chris Taft was hurt in a game last year. The Warriors traded Derek Fisher, in part, to clear minutes for Ellis. If his injury isn’t serious, Ellis is going to be a top sleeper pick this season.

The Warriors got good news on Friday, as Monta Ellis simply bruised his knee on Thursday.
There was concern he did some real damage, but an MRI revealed no structural damage and no tears. It turned out to be a bruised right knee, according to a Warriors release. Ellis flew to the Bay Area on Friday morning to be examined by team orthopedic consultant John Belzer. He’ll miss the rest of summer league and begin rehab, but expects to be 100% prior to the start of training camp in October. Ellis is expected to play a big role for the Warriors this year and is a nice sleeper candidate.

Rosters have been updated for the November 5 “We Believe” game featuring current and former Warriors, with Jason Richardson, Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison, Matt Barnes, Al Harrington, C.J. Watson, and Ike Diogu representing the famous 2006-07 squad, and Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry, David Lee, Dorell Wright, Jeremy Lin, Charlie Bell, Jeremy Tyler, and Lou Amundson representing the current players.
Without Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson agreeing to participate, we aren’t down with calling it a “We Believe” anything. Other notable absences include rookie SG Klay Thompson and C Andris Biedrins. In unrelated news, Monta Ellis will join Kevin Durant’s exhibition game on Sunday night.
