Nationals signed LHP Zach Penrod to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Penrod pitched his way to the majors in 2024, making seven appearances out of the Boston bullpen, but he was a mess last year, finishing with a 7.83 ERA in six starts and 20 relief appearances in the minors for the Red Sox and Dodgers. He walked a total of 67 batters in 33 1/3 innings. He’ll almost certainly have to prove something in Triple-A before getting another chance.

Dodgers sent LHP Zach Penrod outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Penrod passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The 28-year-old lefty was acquired from the Red Sox last month in a trade. He hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since making seven appearances last season for Boston.

Dodgers designated LHP Zach Penrod for assignment.
The procedural move frees up a spot on Los Angeles’ 40-man roster for ace Blake Snell to be activated from the 60-day injured list. The 28-year-old lefty was acquired from the Red Sox last month in a trade. He hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since making seven appearances last season for Boston.

Dodgers acquired LHP Zach Penrod from the Red Sox for cash considerations.
Penrod goes to the Dodgers after being designated for assignment by the Red Sox. The left-hander will give Los Angeles some depth in the middle innings while he’s with the club.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the Dodgers are acquiring LHP Zach Penrod in a trade with the Red Sox.
The Red Sox designated Penrod for assignment Sunday, and it’s not a big surprise that a team had interest in picking up his services. The 28-year-old will give the Dodgers some bullpen help, and likely won’t cost the team more than a low-level prospect or cash considerations.

Red Sox designated LHP Zach Penrod for assignment.
The Red Sox had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster to accommodate their megadeal with the Giants on Sunday and unfortunately that left Penrod out in the cold. The 27-year-old southpaw has registered a 2.84 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and an 8/4 K/BB ratio over 6 1/3 innings in the minor leagues this season after missing the first few months with a left elbow strain. There’s a chance that he passes through waivers unclaimed and continues to serve as extra depth for the Red Sox.

Zach Penrod is the starting pitcher for Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday.
Penrod was activated off the IL on Tuesday after being sidelined since late February. The Red Sox will now apparently use him in the starting rotation at Triple-A, which makes some sense after the team designated LHP Sean Newcomb for assignment earlier this week. Newcomb had been a starter and long reliever for the Red Sox earlier this season, and Penrod could eventually fill the same role. The 27-year-old posted a 4.16 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 93/33 K/BB ratio in 62 2/3 innings as a hybrid starter/reliever last year in the minor leagues.

Red Sox activated Zach Penrod from the 60-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Worcester.
Penrod has been out since the start of spring training with a left elbow sprain. The 27-year-old southpaw, who made seven relief appearances last year for Boston, will remain stationed at Triple-A Worcester as extra organizational depth.

Red Sox placed LHP Zach Penrod on the 60-day injured list with a left elbow sprain.
Pendrod started experiencing elbow soreness at the end of February, but we still don’t have any sense of his timeline other than he’ll “be out a while.” He was a potential bullpen asset for the team this season.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters LHP Zach Penrod will “be out for a while.”
Penrod experienced soreness after throwing a bullpen session earlier this week. While the MRI on his elbow revealed no structural damage, his manager acknowledged Saturday that Penrod is being shut down. Though surgery isn’t being considered at this time, the Red Sox figure to be cautious in his rehab, which could take months. The 27-year-old was slated to be part of Boston’s left-handed bullpen depth.
