Zach Miner yielded three runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Twins on Monday to win for the first time in a month.
A fourth straight win for Detroit. Miner was 0-1 with a 6.88 ERA in his previous four starts. He gets the White Sox, Rangers and White Sox again in his next three turns, so he’s not going to be a very good play in AL-only leagues.

Tigers purchased the contract of RHP Zach Miner from Triple-A Toledo.
The Tigers needed a fresh arm after Roman Colon’s struggles Tuesday. Miner might be a candidate to start Sunday if he isn’t needed in relief. The 24-year-old right-hander was 6-0 with a 2.82 ERA, 43 H and 40/21 K/BB in 51 IP for Toledo.

Zach Miner pitched a five-hitter for his third victory Tuesday in the Tigers’ 10-1 win over the Brewers.
Corey Hart spoiled the shutout bid by singling in Corey Koskie in the bottom of the ninth. Miner is 3-1 with a 2.08 ERA since being recalled, with his only loss coming against the Red Sox in his major league debut. We doubt he’ll keep it up, but he has some value in AL-only leagues at the moment.

Zack Miner picked up his first major league victory by allowing two runs in six innings Saturday against the Blue Jays.
He gave up four hits, walked two and struck out five. Miner lost to the Red Sox while lasting four-plus innings in his previous start. He earned himself another turn with his performance today, but he’s not an option in AL-only leagues.

Zach Miner yielded just two unearned runs in seven innings to beat the Rays on Thursday.
Both runs came in the first, as the Rays came up with two of their three hits off Miner following a Carlos Guillen error. Miner walked one and struck out one while throwing 108 pitches. He’s still not a very good bet in AL-only leagues, but with a road start in Milwaukee coming up next week, he wouldn’t be that bad of a play.

Zach Miner, making his major league debut, gave up three runs over four-plus innings against the Red Sox to take the loss in an 8-3 game on Sunday.
Miner is replacing the injured Mike Maroth in the rotation, but he’ll have to pitch well in order to avoid the club looking at some of their other options. He gave up seven hits, including a pair of homers, and two walks while striking out just two today. He won’t be worth using in AL-only leagues.

The Tigers have decided that Zach Miner will move into the rotation in place of the injured Mike Maroth and start Sunday’s game against the Red Sox.
A report on the team’s official site earlier in the day had manager Jim Leyland sticking with Roman Colon, who was lit up by the Yankees on Tuesday. Miner was successful in Triple-A, but he’s not recommended in AL-only leagues.

Zach Miner suffered his fifth loss of the year as he couldn’t get out of the second inning Wednesday.
Miner, 7-5, has dropped three straight, and the 40-pitch, 1 1/3-inning outing was his shortest to date. He was torched for four hits, six runs, two homers and two walks while striking out one. Miner’s ERA is now 4.76, and he needs to be riding your pine right now.

Zach Miner pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of an ineffective Justin Verlander on Saturday.
With Mike Maroth likely to return Wednesday, Miner could be in the bullpen for good. It’s probably time to drop him in AL-only leagues.

Tigers acquired RHP Zach Miner from the Royals in exchange for cash considerations.
Miner is a former Tiger who has made all of his 157 career appearances as a member of Detroit. None of those appearances have come since 2009, though, and he’ll merely represent depth at Triple-A.
