Clay Holmes pitched in the first game, so he wasn’t coming back out for Game 2. The Yankees managed to hold the Red Sox scoreless over the second half of the game with scoreless innings from Zach McAllister, Anthony Misiewicz, Matt Bowman and Ramirez. McAllister and Bowman were making their first appearances in the majors for the first time since 2018 and 2019, respectively.

McAllister signed a minor league contract with the Yankees last month and gets the call to the majors for the first time since the 2018 campaign after posting a microscopic 1.62 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 20/4 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings (11 appearances) for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 35-year-old hurler was just released by the Diamondbacks on Thursday, so it didn’t take him long to land on his feet elsewhere. McAllister — who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2018 — posted a 4.93 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 54/20 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings at Triple-A Reno. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth for the Yankees.

McAllister signed a minor league pact last December with Arizona and didn’t wind up making it back to the majors. The 35-year-old journeyman right-hander hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2018 season at this point.

The 35-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2018 season, but he’s keeping the dream alive. He spent the 2022 campaign in the Cardinals organization where he posted a 3.99 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 90/27 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings in 56 appearances out of the bullpen.

McAllister is now 34 and hasn’t appeared in the majors since 2018, due in large part to multiple injuries. He posted a 4.22 ERA over 11 appearances -- two starts -- in the minors in the Phillies organization in 2021.

McAllister inked a minor-league pact with the Phillies back in August and wound up making nine relief appearances for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 33-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since 2018.

McAllister, 33, hasn’t pitched anywhere since 2019. He last appeared in the majors in 2018, holding a 6.20 ERA over 44 appearances for the Indians and Tigers.

McAllister was released by the Rangers last week, but it didn’t take long for him to find a new home. The 31-year-old had a rough 2018, but he’s enjoyed some success out of the bullpen in the past and makes for useful relief depth for the organization.

McAllister was signed to a one-year, $1 million major league contract in January, but the 31-year-old right-hander failed to win a spot on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster. He’ll try to latch on with a new team at some point over the next three days.
