    Nick Ramirez notched his first major league save after pitching a scoreless ninth in the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox.
    Clay Holmes pitched in the first game, so he wasn’t coming back out for Game 2. The Yankees managed to hold the Red Sox scoreless over the second half of the game with scoreless innings from Zach McAllister, Anthony Misiewicz, Matt Bowman and Ramirez. McAllister and Bowman were making their first appearances in the majors for the first time since 2018 and 2019, respectively.

    McAllister signed a minor league contract with the Yankees last month and gets the call to the majors for the first time since the 2018 campaign after posting a microscopic 1.62 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 20/4 K/BB ratio across 16 2/3 innings (11 appearances) for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

    The 35-year-old hurler was just released by the Diamondbacks on Thursday, so it didn’t take him long to land on his feet elsewhere. McAllister — who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2018 — posted a 4.93 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 54/20 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings at Triple-A Reno. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth for the Yankees.
