Yonny Chirinos has signed with the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization.
Chirinos heads overseas for the 2025 campaign to attempt to rebuild his long-term value after recording a calamitous 6.30 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 25/13 K/BB ratio over 30 innings (six starts) last season for the rebuilding Marlins. The 30-year-old righty, who has made 75 appearances (44 starts) in the big leagues since 2018, hasn’t missed a ton of bats throughout his career, but he’s always been a reliable ground-ball machine capable of gobbling up low-leverage innings.

Marlins sent RHP Yonny Chirinos outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Chirinos went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will presumably stick around with Miami as extra starting pitching depth rather than electing free agency. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a calamitous 6.30 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 25/13 K/BB ratio across 30 innings (six starts) this season for the Marlins.

Marlins designated RHP Yonny Chirinos for assignment.
Chirinos gave up five runs in five innings of work Monday against the Mets, and the right-hander has a 6.30 ERA and 1.87 WHIP over his 30 innings with Miami. He’ll now hit the waiver wire, and a team in need of innings could consider adding him via claim or trade. Kyle Tyler was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Tuesday’s contest against Baltimore.

Yonny Chirinos was lit up for five runs over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Mets.
Chirinos served up nine hits, including a solo shot to Francisco Lindor and a two-run blast to Jeff McNeil, and was saddled with yet another loss. He struck out four and also handed out four free passes. The 30-year-old righty has done a decent job gobbling up innings for the rebuilding Marlins of late, but his inability to miss bats should keep him off fantasy rosters until further notice. He’ll bring a disastrous 6.30 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 25/13 K/BB ratio across 30 innings (six starts) into a tough road matchup on Saturday against the Brewers.

Edward Cabrera will start Friday’s series opener against the Mets.
He’ll be followed by Roddery Muñoz, Trevor Rogers and Yonny Chirinos to open the second half. Cabrera ended the first half on a sour note when he served up a whopping four homers on Saturday in a loss to the Reds at Great American Ball Park. The 26-year-old former top pitching prospect has shown flashes of immense potential, but has been maddeningly inconsistent for fantasy purposes over the last few years. The big takeaway here for fantasy managers might be to stream a couple of the lesser-known Mets’ hitters this weekend.

Yonny Chirinos allowed eight hits and seven runs in 5 2/3 innings on Friday against the Reds. He walked four and struck out one.
Credit to Chirinos for lasting into the sixth inning after the Reds hung seven runs on him in the first three innings. His fastball ticked up to 95 MPH, matching his season-high, but it’s been a poor season overall for Chirinos without many reasons for optimism going forward.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #26
Yonny Chirinos went five innings while allowing three runs versus the White Sox on Saturday.
Chirinos struck out five against one walk while allowing six hits. He gave up one run in the first and another two in the third before settling down in the final two frames. Chirinos, 30, has been relatively effective since joining the Miami staff with a 4.19 ERA and 20/5 K/BB over four starts. He’ll likely make a start before the break Friday against the Reds.

Yonny Chirinos allowed three earned runs across 4 1/3 innings of work on Sunday. He struck out four, walked one, and the Phillies had nine hits.
Given a large lead early, Chirinos could not get through this injury-ravaged Phillies lineup. They made lots of hard contact and ignited their huge comeback before he was chased from this game. Chirinos is unexciting filler in the Marlins’ decimated rotation.

Yonny Chirinos allowed three hits and one earned run over five innings in Tuesday’s win over the Royals.
Chirinos kept a potent Royals lineup at bay all evening, with his lone blemish coming in the first inning on a Vinny Pasquantino RBI single. Chirinos allowed six total baserunners on the evening, with three coming via the walk, but managed to pitch himself out of a few jams with runners in scoring position. A lack of run support left him on the hook for the loss before an RBI single by Nick Gordon in the seventh tied the game at 1-1. Through two starts, Chirinos is boasting a 2.70 ERA with 11 strikeouts to just three walks. He’ll look to pick up his first win of the season in his next start, which is set for Sunday against the Phillies.

Yonny Chirinos recorded six strikeouts and allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a spot start against the Cardinals.
This was a really great performance considering the recent track record for spot starters over the last few months. Chirinos gave up eight hits, but managed to keep the ball in the yard at pitcher-friendly loanDepot park, limiting St. Louis’ lineup to just a pair of second-inning runs courtesy of a solo homer by Nolan Gorman and a run-scoring single from Brendan Donovan. He threw a staggering 62 of 87 pitches for strikes and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 30-year-old righty doesn’t offer a ton of fantasy appeal given his underwhelming strikeout rate, but he figures to take the ball at least a couple more times for Miami’s injury-depleted starting rotation.
