Red Sox INF prospect Yoelin Cespedes has been diagnosed with a broken hamate bone in his left hand.
Cespedes received a promotion to Low-A Salem after hitting .319/.400/.615, but the infielder hasn’t been able to play since that promotion, and reports suggest that he likely needs to undergo an operation. Considering Cespedes doesn’t turn 19 until September this shouldn’t be a long-term issue, but an operation could very well put his 2024 season to a close.
