Angels placed 3B Yoán Moncada on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation.
Moncada has performed well when he’s been able to take the field this season, hitting .237/.336/.505 in 30 games. If this calms down quickly, he could return in 10 days. Until then, the Angels figure to use Luis Rengifo at third and go with Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman at second. Kingery is starting tonight.

Yoán Moncada (knee) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Guardians.
Moncada returns to Los Angeles’ lineup at third base and batting third after missing only one game due to right knee soreness. It doesn’t appear to be a significant concern moving forward.

Yoán Moncada (knee) is not in the lineup for Friday’s game against the Guardians.
Moncada left Wednesday’s game against the Yankees with knee soreness, and he’ll miss at least one more game with the injury. Luis Rengifo will move over to third base, with Scott Kingery getting the start at second base in Moncada’s absence.

Yoán Moncada was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Yankees with right knee soreness.
Moncada was replaced by Kevin Newman at third base to open the sixth inning after going 1-for-2 with a double. The 30-year-old infielder will head for further evaluation to determine the severity of the issue. The positive news is that it’s unrelated to the thumb issue that was bothering him earlier this season. There should be an update on his status ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Guardians.

Yoán Moncada went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Yankees on Tuesday.
The Angels had been shut out through eight frames before Moncada took Devin Williams deep for a solo homer to lead off the ninth and cut the lead to two runs. The 30-year-old third baseman is up to five home runs and 18 RBI while hitting .222/.330/.467 across 106 plate appearances.

Yoán Moncada went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Moncada’s only hit of the day was a big one as he took Gunnar Hoglund deep for a three-run blast in the fifth inning. He later added a base hit in the ninth for his second hit and just his second multi-hit effort on the season. The 29-year-old third baseman is up to four homers while hitting .229/.349/.486 with 16 RBI across 83 plate appearances.

Yoán Moncada (thumb) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s Freeway Series finale against the Dodgers.
Moncada is back at third base and batting third following a one-game absence after re-aggravating a lingering right thumb issue during Friday’s series opener. It seems like he’ll need to manage the issue going forward, but it won’t require a trip to the injured list.

Yoán Moncada was removed from Friday’s win over the Dodgers with an apparent right thumb injury.
Moncada missed time earlier this season with a right thumb sprain, so this is definitely a massive concern for the Angels. The 29-year-old appeared to re-aggravate the issue on a ninth-inning swing during Friday’s contest at Dodger Stadium. There should be an update on his status at some point this week. It’ll likely be Tim Anderson or Kevin Newman taking over at the hot corner if he hits the injured list.

Yoán Moncada hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Dodgers on Friday.
Moncada swatted a two-run homer in the first inning to give the Halos a 2-0 lead. The 29-year-old infielder has shown off some solid power in his limited action in 2025, as he’s homered three times and slugged .483 over his 58 at-bats. It’s a fun reminder of the player fantasy managers were hoping Moncada would be, but there’s just no reason to think he’s ever going to hit enough to be a reliable fantasy option.

Yoán Moncada went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer against the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Moncada reacclimated himself off the injured list with a three-run blast off Jeff Hoffman in the eighth inning to extend the Angels lead. It was the first home run of the season for the 29-year-old third baseman after he missed nearly a month with a right thumb sprain.
