Nationals reassigned LHP’s Evan Lee, Francisco Perez and Alberto Baldonado, RHP Tommy Romero, INF’s Lucius Fox, Erick Mejia and OF’s Yasel Antuna and Donovan Casey to minor league camp.
The Nationals first round of cuts from spring training includes several depth relievers, and a useful utility infielder in Lucius Fox, but no major surprises.

  • FA Shortstop #55
Nationals sent INF/OF Yasel Antuna outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Antuna passed through waivers unclaimed after being pushed off the 40-man roster in Washington. The 23-year-old batted .215/.353/.338 with 11 home runs and 27 stolen bases in 125 games this past season between High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #68
Nationals optioned RHP Gabe Klobosits, OF Yasel Antuna and LHP’s Seth Romero and Evan Lee to Triple-A Rochester, reassigned RHP’s Jackson Rutledge and Jefry Rodriguez, LHP Alberto Baldonado and INF Andrew Young to minor league spring training.
The first round of cuts from Nationals’ camp include Klobosits, who made 11 relief appearances late last season and a few prominent non-roster invitees fighting for a spot on the big-league roster in Rodriguez and Baldonado.

  • FA Shortstop #55
Nationals purchased the contract of INF Yasel Antuna.
Antuna was included in the Nats’ 60-man player pool this past season, but he’s still yet to see any action above A-ball. The 21-year-old is now protected from the Rule 5 Draft.

  • FA Shortstop #55
Nationals added INF Yasel Antuna to their 60-man player pool.
Antuna is a 20-year-old who has yet to advance beyond A-ball. He figures to remain at the team’s alternate training site.
