Rockies promoted OF prospect Yanquiel Fernandez to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Fernandez gets the call to the doorstep of the majors after batting .283/.339/.440 with 10 homers and one steal over 346 plate appearances this season for Double-A Hartford. The 21-year-old is one of the better prospects in Colorado’s system and should benefit from Coors Field’s hitter-friendly environment in the near future.

Rockies OF prospect Yanquiel Fernandez went 4-for-4 with a pair of runs scored on Friday for Double-A Hartford.
Fernandez racked up a season-high four hits, including a triple, to raise his OPS to .736 on the young season. The 21-year-old outfielder possesses enough over-the-fence pop, as evidenced by a 25-homer campaign last year in the lower minors, to potentially make an impact for fantasy managers down the road. Especially if he winds up getting to play at Coors Field. He’s arguably a top-25 range outfield prospect in dynasty leagues at the moment.
  • COL Shortstop #91
Rockies optioned INF Adael Amador, OF Yanquiel Fernandez, and RHPs Angel Chivilli and Juan Mejia to Double-A Hartford; optioned RHP Noah Davis to Triple-A Albuquerque; reassigned RHPs Karl Kauffmann, Jeff Criswell, Chance Adams, OF Zac Veen and INF Sterlin Thompson to minor league camp.
Amador blossomed last year into one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape from a dynasty standpoint as his contact skills put him on the potential fast track to the majors as he enters his age-21 season. Fernandez, Veen and Thompson also have a great deal of fantasy potential, if they ascend to the big leagues in Colorado down the line.
  • COL Right Fielder
Rockies selected the contract of OF Yanquiel Fernandez from Double-A Hartford.
MLB Pipeline’s 49th-ranked prospect entering the offseason, Fernandez figures to be hitting moonshots at Coors Field in the near future, but is more of a one-dimensional masher, than a potential five-category impact fantasy contributor. The 29-year-old Cuban outfielder compiled a .265/.313/.486 triple-slash line with 25 homers across 521 plate appearances in 117 games this past season across three minor league levels. He wrapped up the 2023 campaign at Double-A Hartford and could easily ascend to the big leagues at some point next year.
