The Mets reassigned OFs Trayce Thompson and Ben Gamel, RHPs Kyle Crick, Cole Sulser and Yacksel Ríos and INF Yolmer Sánchez to minor league camp.
Thompson came into camp as a non-roster invite and after he slashed .250/.308/.583 with two home runs and six RBI, he’ll stay in the Mets’ farm system as a depth option for the outfield.

Mets signed RHP Yacksel Ríos to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Ríos augments New York’s organizational relief depth heading into spring training after making three appearances this past season for the Athletics. The 30-year-old righty, who holds a bloated 6.32 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 93/56 K/BB ratio across 98 1/3 innings (92 appearances) in the majors since 2017, missed the entire second half of last year following shoulder surgery to correct an issue leading to numbness in his fingers.

Yacksel Ríos has elected free agency.
Rîos will look for a new team after being removed from the Athletics’ 40-man roster at the end of the season. The 30-year-old right-hander allowed seven earned runs across three appearances before undergoing a shoulder procedure in July.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #40
Athletics sent RHP Yacksel Ríos outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Ríos finds himself off Oakland’s 40-man roster after wrapping up the regular season on the 60-day injured list following season-ending shoulder surgery back in mid-July. The 30-year-old right-hander will most likely wind up electing free agency in the coming days.

Yacksel Ríos (finger) underwent season-ending surgery on Monday.
Ríos underwent a procedure on his shoulder to address a nerve issue leading to Raynaud’s syndrome, which was causing numbness in his fingers. He’s expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

Athletics transferred RHP Yacksel Ríos to the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Oakland’s 40-man roster. Ríos underwent surgery on Friday to address Raynaud’s syndrome in his fingers and is facing an extended absence.

Yacksel Rios will undergo surgery on Friday to address his Raynaud’s syndrome.
The right-hander has been sidelined since the end of June with the circulation issue, and now it sounds like he’ll be out for quite a bit longer. The A’s are hopeful that he’ll be able to return at some point in the second half of the season.

Athletics placed RHP Yacksel Ríos on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 29, with Raynaud’s syndrome.
That’s never what you want to hear. The general timeline to recover from the injury lasts much longer than just a couple of weeks — and could wind up costing Ríos the remainder of the season. The 30-year-old hurler has struggled to a 37.80 ERA, 5.40 WHIP and a 2/6 K/BB ratio over 1 2/3 innings in three appearances with the Athletics this season.

Athletics selected the contract of RHP Yacksel Ríos from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Ríos was acquired earlier this week in a small trade with the Braves and will immediately step into Oakland’s bullpen mix. The 29-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2021 campaign, but has compiled a solid 2.49 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (22 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.

Athletics acquired RHP Yacksel Ríos from the Braves for cash considerations.
Ríos was preparing to exercise the opt-out in his minor league contract with the Braves, so they ultimately decided to ship him to the Athletics, where he’ll presumably get an opportunity to pitch in the majors relatively soon. The 29-year-old righty hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 campaign and holds a strong 2.49 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30/8 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (22 appearances) this season at the Triple-A level.
