Fernando Tatis Jr. is batting in the cleanup spot for the Padres for Friday’s Cactus League opener against the Mariners.
The 27-year-old superstar hid predominantly out of the leadoff spot in the Padres’ lineup in 2025, so this could be an interesting change. It’s definitely a situation to monitor. If it sticks heading into the season, it would certainly increase his RBI output while dinging his projection in runs slightly. Xander Bogaerts is batting out of the leadoff spot in his place on Friday.

MLB suspended INF Jose Iglesias one game for his conduct towards the umpires after Game 3 of the Padres’ Wild Card series against the Cubs.
Iglesias and Xander Bogaerts were also fined an undisclosed amount. The incident followed a controversial ninth-inning strike call from D.J. Reyburn on a 3-2 pitch to Bogaerts that appeared to be below the zone. The Padres went on to lose the series-ending game and directed some anger the umpiring crew’s way afterwards. Iglesias, who is set to become a free agent, will sit on Opening Day unless he successfully appeals.

Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-3 and clobbered a two-run homer on Saturday night as the Padres defeated the Diamondbacks.
Bogaerts walloped a 424-foot (110.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Eduardo Rodriguez in the opening inning, increasing the Padres’ early lead to 3-0. He struck out in each of his other two at-bats in the contest. For the season, he’s now hitting .262/.328/.389 to go along with 11 long balls and 51 RBI.

Padres activated SS Xander Bogaerts from the 10-day injured list.
Bogaerts officially returns to San Diego’s lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Brewers following a nearly one-month absence recovering from a fractured left foot, which was believed to be a season-ending injury at the time. The 32-year-old’s presence is a massive lift as the Padres prepare for a postseason run after locking up a playoff berth earlier this week.

Padres manager Mike Shildt told reports Xander Bogaerts (foot) could be activated for Tuesday’s game against the Brewers.
Bogaerts is on the precipice of returning to San Diego’s lineup after goint through an intensive pregame workout and taking on-field batting practice prior to Monday’s series opener at Petco Park. The 32-year-old veteran infielder has been out since late August with what was believed to be a season-ending fractured left foot. He’ll provide a massive lift for the Padres heading into the postseason.

Xander Bogaerts (foot) is expected to be activated from the injured list prior to Monday’s series opener against the Brewers.
Bogaerts was scheduled to work out on the field on Friday, but the rain in Arizona washed away those chances. He’ll continue to work out with the team through the weekend and barring any setbacks will be cleared to return for the final week of the regular season.

Padres manager Mike Shildt said over the weekend that Xander Bogaerts (foot) is targeting a return during the final week of the regular season.
Bogaerts will continue ramping up baseball activities at the club’s spring training complex in Arizona and should make it back to San Diego next week. The 32-year-old veteran infielder hit the injured list with what was believed to be a season-ending fractured left foot back in late August. His return would certainly provide a lift for the Padres.

Xander Bogaerts (foot) took live batting practice on the field on Friday without any issues.
The 32-year-old infielder told reporters afterwards that he feels like he’s ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured left foot. The Padres have yet to announce a clear timeline for his return, but it sounds like he’s pushing to be back before the regular season comes to an end. His return would give them a nice boost heading into the postseason.

Xander Bogaerts (foot) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.
Bogaerts was initially thought to be done for the year after fracturing his left foot in late August, but there’s now a small chance he returns before the regular season ends. The 32-year-old veteran infielder will be racing the clock, though he could be ready for the postseason if San Diego gets there.

Padres placed INF Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot.
Bogaerts suffered the unfortunate injury when he fouled a ball off of his left foot during Wednesday’s ballgame. He’ll miss the remainder of the regular season but could return at some point during the Padres’ postseason run. Mason McCoy was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move on Friday.
