Giants announced INF Wilmer Flores exercised his $3.5 million player option for 2025.
Flores had an OPS of 113 from 2016-23, topping out at 137 in 2023, but he struggled with a knee injury and hit .206/.277/.318 in 71 games last season. The Giants might decide to move on from him rather than bring him back as a platoon first baseman and/or DH.

Giants transferred INF Wilmer Flores to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the recovery process for the 33-year-old infielder, as Flores will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing a Tenex procedure on his right quad to address an issue with his right knee. This was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for Ethan Small who was activated and optioned to Triple-A on Friday.

Giants manager Bob Melvin told reporters Wilmer Flores (knee) will miss the rest of the season.
Flores underwent a Tenex procedure on his right quad earlier on Tuesday to address a right knee issue and won’t be able to make it back this year. Melvin added that he believes the veteran’s ongoing knee issues greatly contributed to his season-long struggles at the plate.

Wilmer Flores will undergo a Tenex Procedure on his troublesome right knee on Tuesday.
The Tenex Procedure involves ultrasonic frequencies to help break up damaged tissue and is nonsurgical. The Giants provided no timetable for his return to play after the procedure. Our research suggests there’s some chance he might be able to resume playing in games in September.

Giants placed INF Wilmer Flores on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 24, with right knee tendinitis.
It was left knee tendinitis that had Flores on the injured list earlier this month. Coming off perhaps the best year of his career in 2023, he’s hit just .206/.277/.318 in 242 plate appearances this season.

LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) is not in the Giants lineup on Thursday against the Blue Jays.
Giants manager Bob Melvin said that Wade Jr. is battling some lingering “hamstring tightness” so the team will go with Wilmer Flores at first base. Melvin believes that Wade Jr. could be back against the Twins, but the team will simply manage his hamstring tightness before he gets four days off over the All-Star break.

Giants activated 1B Wilmer Flores from the 10-day injured list.
Flores returns to San Francisco’s corner infield mix after missing a couple weeks due to left knee tendinitis. The 32-year-old figures to play regularly against left-handed pitching as a natural platoon partner at first base with LaMonte Wade Jr.

Giants placed INF Wilmer Flores on the 10-day injured list with left knee tendinitis.
Flores has been battling the knee issue for a couple of weeks now so the Giants finally decided to sit him down and get him right. The timing worked out as LaMonte Wade was activated from the injured list on Friday and can handle the bulk of the action at first base while Flores is shelved.

Wilmer Flores is dealing with some knee soreness and was not included in Monday’s lineup against the Astros.
Flores’s knee was acting up after playing on turf in Texas, but he’s probably still available off the bench. The Giants didn’t have the DH spot available for him with Jorge Soler locked in there.

Wilmer Flores homered twice off Michael Lorenzen in the win over the Rangers on Friday.
Flores likely only started tonight because of his grand slam off a lefty Thursday, and he wound up hitting his first two homers off a right-hander this season; he came into the game batting ,217./.309/.353 in 97 PA versus righties. The sudden hot streak will probably turn him into a lineup fixture for a spell, but he still only seems like an option in deeper formats.
