Woods passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment in late December. The 24-year-old righty made a pair of relief appearances last season for the Braves last season and was claimed off waivers by the Mets in mid-November. He’ll provide New York with some extra organizational pitching depth this season at Triple-A Syracuse.

Woods was gobbled up off waivers earlier this offseason from the Braves, but has been jettisoned to make room on New York’s 40-man roster to re-sign veteran reliever Adam Ottavino. The soon-to-be 24-year-old righty made a pair of relief appearances last season for Atlanta and figures to attract some interest on waivers in the coming days.

Woods made two relief appearances for the Braves in 2023. The Mets will add the 23-year-old to the 40-man roster, and he will be given a chance to win one of the final spots on the pitching staff this spring.

He’s taking the place of the injured Kirby Yates (elbow) in the Braves bullpen. The 23-year-old hurler has appeared in two games for the Braves so far this season, firing two shutout innings with a 2/1 K/BB ratio. He’ll be deployed in the middle innings.

Woods will provide the Braves with some additional relief depth ahead of Tuesday’s twin-bill. The 23-year-old righty, who was optioned back to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, has tossed a pair of scoreless innings in two relief appearances with the Braves this season.

The right-hander appeared in just one game during his brief stay with the Braves, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless inning of work. He’ll return to the rotation at Triple-A where he’ll function as additional starting pitching depth for the Braves.

Woods was added to the Braves’ 40-man roster last November and will make his major-league debut when he gets into a game. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed six runs on seven hits with a 14/2 K/BB ratio across 7 2/3 innings (six appearances, one start) between Double-A Mississippi and Triple-A Gwinnett this season. He’ll likely pitch in long relief out of Atlanta’s bullpen.

Woods, who was added to the Braves’ 40-man roster last November, will open the 2022 season on the doorstep of the big leagues. The 23-year-old righty was limited to just five starts last year, but was impressive during the Arizona Fall League.
