    It’s a one-year, $1.5 million contract for the 34-year-old. Cuevas has been a solid pitcher in the KBO since joining in 2018, and he’ll spend at least one more year in Korea. At the age of 34, it’s plausible that he’ll remain overseas for the remainder of his career.

    Cuevas had been pitching in the Dodgers’ organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City where he registered a 6.14 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 43/20 K/BB ratio over 44 innings. The 32-year-old hurler spent the previous four season with the KT Wiz and hasn’t appeared in a big league game since 2018.

    Cuevas last appeared in the majors for the Red Sox during the 2018 campaign when he made a career-high nine appearances (one start). The 32-year-old righty has spent the last four seasons pitching for the KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization. He’ll add some extra organizational starting pitching depth for the Dodgers.

    Cuevas returns for a fourth season with the defending KBO champions after registering a 4.12 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 137/51 K/BB ratio across 133 1/3 innings (23 starts) for the Wiz last season. The 31-year-old righty, who last appeared in the majors with the Red Sox back in 2018, will earn a $1 million base salary and another $100,000 in additional incentives.

    Cuevas will get $1 million plus the chance to earn more with incentives, and it includes a mutual option for the 2022 season. Released by the Red Sox in November of 2018 so he could join the KBO, the 30-year-old owns a 3.84 ERA in Korea over 57 starts.

    Cuevas has reportedly agreed to a contract with a team in the Korea Baseball Organization. The 28-year-old right-hander from Caracas, Venezuela has allowed 20 earned runs in 22 1/3 career major league innings.

    William Cuevas lasted just two-plus innings while giving up two runs on three hits and a walk in his start against the Mets on Friday.
    Hector Velazquez was originally supposed to start, but he was snatched due to illness. Cuevas gave up an RBI double to Jay Bruce in the first inning before striking out the side in the second. He was pulled after giving up a leadoff single to Amed Rosario in the third. Robby Scott allowed the inherited runner to score when he gave up a three-run homer to Jay Bruce. Brian Johnson at least saved the bullpen by tossing 4 2/3 innings with just a solo homer allowed. Cuevas figures to pitch in a long relief role the rest of the way.

    Cuevas cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. He’ll remain in the organization.

    He was optioned to make room for infielder Mike Miller. Cuevas allowed two hits and four walks over 2 2/3 scoreless innings against Texas this weekend. He’ll probably make his way back to Boston later this season.
