    Reds released 1B/OF Wil Myers.
Myers was designated for assignment by the Reds earlier this week and will now be eligible to join a new team at the major league minimum. The Reds had high hopes when they signed the 32-year-old to a one-year, $7.5 million deal this offseason, but he hit just .189 with three homers over 37 games and the team ended up having better internal options at their disposal. He’s had some bad luck with injuries this year too, so surely another team will scoop him up in hopes of a return to form.

Reds activated 1B/OF Wil Myers from the 10-day injured list; designated him for assignment.
There simply isn’t a spot for Myers with Cincinnati anymore with veteran first baseman Joey Votto back from last year’s shoulder surgery and several young corner outfielders fighting for everyday at-bats moving forward. The 32-year-old signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract with the Reds last offseason and was hitting just .189 (24-for-127) with three homers, 12 RBI and two stolen bases in 37 games this year.

Wil Myers (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Louisville.
Myers landed on the injured list back in late May with kidney stones, but a left should sprain seems to be the more pressing concern at the moment. The 32-year-old outfielder should only need a handful of rehab games before returning to Cincinnati sometime next week.

Reds manager David Bell revealed Tuesday that Wil Myers is also dealing with a left shoulder sprain.
Myers is now fully recovered from the kidney stones that landed him on the injured list, but will be out a while longer while battling the shoulder sprain. As of now, there’s no clear timetable for his return.

Reds placed OF/1B Wil Myers on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 24, with kidney stones.
Ouch. Myers has been out the past couple of days, so at this point it makes sense to let him rest up. Will Benson will essentially take his place on the active roster.

Wil Myers is out of the lineup for the second straight day Thursday versus the Cardinals.
It sounds like some sort of physical issue, but Reds manager David Bell said it’s minor and there’s no discussion of the injured list at this time. Stuart Fairchild will start in right field and bat eighth against Miles Mikolas.

Wil Myers went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Marlins on Friday.
He also pretty much gave the Marlins a run by losing a flyball to right field in the twilight. That went as a triple for Joey Wendle, and Wendle came around to score. Myers is batting .200/.259/.310 in 58 plate appearances. The bat will come around some eventually, but it’s still questionable whether it’ll be worth it for the rebuilding Reds to play a 32-year-old outfielder who very likely will be elsewhere in 2024.

Wil Myers is not in Thursday’s lineup against the Mets.
Myers will take a seat with right-hander Kodai Senga on the hill for the Mets. Henry Ramos will make the start in right field and bat seventh. Also of note, Tyler Stephenson will start at DH and Curt Casali is behind the plate.

Wil Myers (COVID-19) hopes to return on Saturday.
Myers was placed on the injured list last week due to what he eventually revealed was a bout with COVID-19. He was able to do some workouts while the team was out of town and appears back to normal.
