Brewers optioned C Jeferson Quero and OF Chris Roller to Triple-A Nashville, optioned RHP Bradley Blalock to Double-A Biloxi, and reassigned 1B Wes Clarke, RHP Sam Carlson, RHP Evan McKendry, RHP Tobias Myers, and RHP Carlos Rodriguez to minor league camp.
Quero is one of the Brewers’ top prospects. In 2023, he hit .262/.339/.441 with 16 homers and five stolen bases across 381 plate appearances with Double-A Biloxi. He is considered one of the better catching prospects in the minor leagues and could up making his major league debut sometime during the 2024 season.

Wes Clarke’s fourth homer of the spring was a three-run shot off Bryan Shaw in the Brewers’ 8-2 takedown of the White Sox on Thursday.
Clarke offers plenty of power and patience, but that came with a .241 average and a 29.2% strikeout rate in Double-A last year. That he could serve as a third catcher and a first baseman or DH against lefties might make him viable as a bench guy, but he’s one of those guys who should be strenuously rooting for MLB to act on those rumors of mandating a 12-pitcher/14-hitter roster split.

Wes Clarke clobbered a pair of home runs and drove in three runs on Saturday, helping to power the Brewers to victory over the Padres.
Clarke finished his club’s ambush against Padres’ right-hander Pedro Avila with a three-run shot in the second inning that gave them a 5-2 lead they’d never relinquish. He also hammered a solo shot off of Robert Suarez in the fourth inning. The 24-year-old slugger slashed .241/.392/.498 with 26 long balls and 80 RBI in 503 plate appearances at Double-A Biloxi in 2023, then cranked five more homers in the Arizona Fall League. Expect him to open the 2024 campaign at Triple-A Nashville.

Brewers 1B prospect Wes Clarke had two hits in Arizona Fall League action on Tuesday.
Clarke has been one of the best hitters in the AFL, slashing .314/.462/.627 with four home runs and 16 RBI in 14 games. The first baseman hit 26 home runs with a .392 OBP and six steals in 118 games at Double-A in 2023 and with the Brewers having no locked-in options at first base, there’s a chance Clarke can compete for a starting job this spring.
  • MIL First Baseman
Brewers 1B prospect Wes Clarke hit his fourth home run in Arizona Fall League action on Wednesday.
Clarke now has a 1.118 OPS through his first 12 games in the AFL. The catcher/first baseman hit 26 home runs with a .392 OBP and six steals in 118 games at Double-A in 2023. He has massive power and strong strike-zone awareness and could push for time in Milwaukee if the team gets another poor season out of their first base talent.
