    Orioles released RHP Wandisson Charles.
Charles looked like a potentially savvy pickup last December for the Orioles when they inked him to a minor league contract, but he never wound up making it to Baltimore. The 27-year-old relief prospect compiled a lackluster 8.60 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and 32/33 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings (31 appearances) this season between Triple-A Norfolk and Double-A Bowie.
  • BAL Third Baseman #64
Orioles reassigned INF/OF Diego Castillo, INF Errol Robinson, OF Daniel Johnson, RHPs Wandisson Charles and Chayce McDermott and LHPs Cade Povich, Tucker Davidson and Luis González to minor league camp.
At least Castillo doesn’t have to pack up and head to another organization this time after stints with five different teams during the offseason. Charles is probably the most notable inclusion in the latest batch of cuts as he seemed like a decent bet to stick in the Orioles’ bullpen.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #96
Orioles re-signed RHP Wandisson Charles to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old Charles spent 2021 and ’22 on the Athletics’ 40-man roster, but due to control issues, he’s yet to pitch in the majors. He had a 4.57 ERA and a 66/33 K/BB ratio in 45 1/3 innings out of the pen for the Orioles’ Double- and Triple-A clubs last season.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #83
Orioles signed RHP Wandisson Charles to a minor league contract.
The 26-year-old right-hander has yet to pitch above Double-A ball in his career. He registered a cringe-inducing 11.43 ERA, 2.57 WHIP and 34/38 K/BB ratio over 37 frames at Double-A Midland for the Athletics in 2022. He’ll add organizational bullpen depth for the O’s.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #83
Athletics sent RHP Wandisson Charles outright to Double-A Midland.
Charles passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last week by the Athletics. The 25-year-old righty has yet to reach the majors and hasn’t pitched above the Double-A level in his career.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #83
Athletics designated RHP Wandisson Charles for assignment.
Charles has been dreadful at Double-A Midland this season with a 9.53 ERA and 33/33 K/BB ratio over 34 innings. He seems likely to clear waivers.

  • MIA Third Baseman #41
Athletics optioned 3B Jonah Bride, RHP Wandisson Charles and 3B Jordan Diaz to Double-A Midland.
Bride, Charles and Diaz, all of whom were added to the Athletics’ 40-man roster over the last two years, will spend the remainder of spring training on the minor-league side of camp.

  • FA Relief Pitcher #83
Athletics purchased the contract of RHP Wandisson Charles.
Charles fanned 93 batters across 62 1/3 innings covering three levels in the minors in 2019, but he also walked 43. The 24-year-old could be a late-inning reliever if he can figure out how to throw enough strikes.
