  • TEX Relief Pitcher #52
Rangers recalled LHP Walter Pennington from Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington was sent down to Texas with Josh Sborz activated Tuesday. With Sborz needing to go back on the injured list with his shoulder issue, the Rangers will reverse the transaction and having Pennington audition for a spot in 2025.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #52
Rangers optioned LHP Walter Pennington to Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington came up in August with Josh Sborz going on the injured list. Now that Sborz is back, Pennington is back in the minors. He had a 3.00 ERA, 1.66 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 18 innings with the Rangers.

Rangers recalled LHP Walter Pennington from Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington is up with Josh Sborz (shoulder) being placed on the injured list. Pennington came over from the Royals in the deal that shipped Michael Lorenzen to the Royals, and he’ll provide the Rangers with some left-handed relief help while with the club.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #52
Rangers optioned LHP Walter Pennington to Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington was acquired from the Royals in the Michael Lorenzen deal back at the trade deadline and winds up heading to the minors to make room for veteran starter Tyler Mahle to return from the injured list. The 26-year-old lefty should be back in the majors in a couple weeks.

Rangers recalled LHP Walter Pennington from Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington, 26, was just acquired from the Royals in a deadline deal for Michael Lorenzen. He’ll get his first chance to work out of the Rangers’ bullpen with Max Scherzer (shoulder) landing on the injured list on Friday. With his stuff, there’s a chance that he could stick around if he starts out well with his new ballclub.

Texas Rangers acquired LHP Walter Pennington from the Royals for RHP Michael Lorenzen.
The last time the Rangers and Royals made a trade, the Rangers sent Cole Ragans away; however, it’s unlikely they feel that kind of regret with dealing away Lorenzen. The Rangers had the luxury of parting with Lorenzen since both body Bradford and Tyler Mahle are close to returning from their rehab assignments. Pennington is a 26-year-old lefty who was immediately sent to Triple-A Round Rock. Pennington relies heavily on a plus slider that he throws about 50 percent of the time and has a near 47 percent whiff rate per swing. His sinker sits in the low 90s but he figures to be a solid reliever out of the bullpen for the remainder of his contract.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #23
Kansas City Royals acquired RHP Michael Lorenzen from the Texas Rangers for LHP Walter Pennington.
The Royals are holding onto one of the final wild card spots and wanted to improve on Alec Marsh in the final spot in their rotation, so they went out and landed Lorenzen. The 32-year-old has experience in the bullpen and the rotation but currently holds a 3.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 74/48 K/BB ratio across 97 2/3 innings with the Rangers. It’s a literal move for Lorenzen in terms of fantasy appeal since he remains on a solid team in a good pitcher’s park; however, he should get an easier schedule moving into the AL Central which isn’t such a bad thing.

Walter Pennington is the Royals’ 27th man for Wednesday’s doubleheader.
Pennington made his major league debut Friday, retiring both batters he faced, before getting sent back to Triple-A on Saturday. He has a 2.35 ERA in 53 2/3 innings over 32 appearances for Triple-A Omaha.

Royals optioned LHP Walter Pennington to Triple-A Omaha.
Pennington, 26, made his big-league debut with the Royals on Friday night, retiring both of the batters that he faced including a strikeout. He was sent out this time to make room on the team’s active roster for the return of Kris Bubic (elbow) from the 60-day IL. He’ll bide his time at Triple-A until the Royals need another left-hander in their bullpen.

Royals selected the contract of LHP Walter Pennington from Triple-A Omaha.
It’s the first trip to the show for the 26-year-old southpaw. Pennington has been outstanding at Triple-A Omaha this season, compiling a 2.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and a 76/19 K/BB ratio across 53 2/3 innings in 32 appearances. He’ll give manager Matt Quatraro another option to deploy in the middle innings.
