Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) received a cortisone injection and isn’t expected to return to minor league game action until June.
Jenkins has dealt with an array of physical issues since being selected fifth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft. The immense talent and upside is undeniable, but he’s struggled to stay on the field at times. The 20-year-old top prospect isn’t expected to return to game action at Double-A Wichita until early June after receiving an injection to address lingering ankle soreness. He’s a top-10 prospect for dynasty purposes, but the lost development time is starting to become a minor concern.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins was placed on the minor league injured list with a left ankle sprain.
Jenkins is a legitimate candidate to finish the year as the top prospect in the fantasy landscape, but he’s been plagued by injuries since kicking off his professional career back in 2023 when he selected fifth overall. The 20-year-old phenom suffered the initial injury during spring training and will miss some additional time at Double-A Wichita after re-aggravating it last weekend. He’s a top-10 prospect for dynasty purposes, even if he’s unlikely to reach the majors until next year.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Walker Jenkins has been diagnosed with a mild ankle sprain.
Jenkins suffered the injury last week during workouts and isn’t expected to miss too much time in minor-league camp. The 20-year-old prodigy possesses a unique blend of bat-to-ball skills along with a top-of-the-scale power-speed combination, which led to a robust .833 OPS with six homers and 17 steals in 82 games last year across four minor-league levels. He checked in as the eighth-ranked prospect (57th overall) in Rotoworld’s latest top 500 dynasty rankings update.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins went 3-for-5 with a solo homer on Friday for High-A Cedar Rapids.
Jenkins is universally-regarded as one of the top long-term fantasy prospects in the game, but he’s at least a couple hyperspace jumps away from reaching the majors after being selected fifth overall in the 2023 MLB Draft. The 19-year-old phenom is batting .272/.333/.420 with one homer and four steals in 20 games since arriving at High-A.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins went 2-for-4 with an RBI on Friday for High-A Cedar Rapids.
Jenkins got off to a slow start this season after missing time due to injury at the outset of the year, but he’s starting to hit his stride since being promoted earlier this week to High-A. The 19-year-old is universally-regarded as one of the top fantasy prospects in the game from a dynasty standpoint, but it’s probably going to be at least a year or two before he’s ready for the majors.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins launched his first home run of the season on Saturday for Single-A Fort Myers.
Jenkins went deep for the first time since returning back on June 4 from a hamstring strain that cost him a couple weeks in the early stages of the year. The 19-year-old prodigy, who was selected fifth overall in last year’s MLB Draft, is already a top-five caliber dynasty outfielder and should make his way to the upper minors by the end of the year.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins is back in the lineup on Tuesday for Single-A Fort Myers.
Jenkins, who was selected fifth overall in last July’s MLB Draft, is one of the top-10 dynasty prospects in the fantasy landscape already. The 19-year-old power/speed combo outfielder is back in action following a two-month absence due to a hamstring injury. He figures to reach the upper minors by the conclusion of the 2024 campaign.
  • MIN Shortstop #80
Twins prospects INF Brooks Lee and OF Walker Jenkins return to action for the rookie-level complex team in Fort Myers.
Lee has been out all season with a back injury, while Jenkins played in one game at high-A before straining his quad. They are the top two prospects in the Twins’ system, so getting them back on the field is huge for the organization. Lee has a chance to make his MLB debut later this summer if he can get back on track now that he’s healthy.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Twins OF prospect Walker Jenkins is dealing with a hamstring injury.
Jenkins will undergo additional testing to determine the extent of the issue after suffering the injury during Friday’s minor league contest for Single-A Fort Myers when he collided with the center-field wall attempt to make a leaping catch. No word yet on the extent of the injury, but the 19-year-old top prospect figures to miss at least a couple days, if not longer.
  • MIN Center Fielder
Walker Jenkins (quad) will not miss any games to start the 2024 minor league season.
The 19-year-old outfielder is the 10th-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 after an impressive professional debut last season, posting a .989 OPS with three homers and six steals in 115 plate appearances between the Twins’ Rookie-level affiliate and Single-A Fort Myers. He suffered a quad injury near the end of spring training that caused him to miss the Spring Breakout game, but he should be ready for the start of the season at Class A Fort Myers. If he continues to hit, he could be a fast riser through the system.
