Red Sox released RHP Vladimir Gutierrez.
Boston cleared room on the Triple-A roster for recently promoted Zach Penrod by releasing Gutierrez. The 28-year-old has bounced around organizations over the past few years, and now will be free to sign with a new club — all but assuredly on a minor-league pact.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #92
Red Sox sent RHP Vladimir Gutierrez outright to Triple-A Worcester.
Gutierrez was designated for assignment on Wednesday, but he cleared waivers and accepted his assignment to Triple-A Worcester. He was acquired from the Brewers in April and made one appearance for the Marlins earlier in the season, allowing three runs on three hits in four innings. He figures to serve as organizational pitching depth.

Red Sox designated RHP Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment.
The Res Sox needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster for Dominic Smith on Wednesday and unfortunately Gutierrez was the odd-man out. He could once again attract interest on waivers.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #92
Red Sox acquired RHP Vladimir Gutierrez from the Brewers for cash considerations.
Gutierrez provides the Red Sox with some extra organizational pitching depth at Triple-A Worcester. The 28-year-old righty was designated for assignment earlier this week by the Brewers. His lone appearance in the big leagues this season came with the Marlins a couple weeks ago.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #92
Brewers designated RHP Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment.
Gutierrez was claimed off waivers earlier this month, but the Brewers decided to waive the 28-year-old. He made his only appearance in the majors with the Marlins this season when he yielded three earned runs across four innings.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #92
Brewers claimed Vladimir Gutierrez off waivers from the Marlins.
Gutierrez allowed four runs over four innings in his lone relief appearance for the Marlins earlier this week against the Pirates. He’ll continue his work at the minor league level in Milwaukee’s organization.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #92
Marlins designated RHP Vladimir Gutierrez for assignment.
Gutierrez was added to Miami’s active roster over the weekend and wound up allowing four runs over four innings on Sunday in relief against the Pirates. The 28-year-old righty will presumably head back to Triple-A Jacksonville, if he goes unclaimed on waivers.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #53
Marlins selected the contract of RHP Vladimir Gutierrez from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Gutierrez, 28, is added to the active roster before Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates as expected. The right-hander will have a chance to pitch in a game for the first time since 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but he won’t provide fantasy relevance even if he gets a chance to make starts.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #53
Francys Romero reports that the Marlins plan to promote Vladimir Gutierrez from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Pirates.
It’s not yet clear if he’ll function as a starter or work out of the bullpen for the Marlins, but he is expected to join the club on Sunday. Gutierrez hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #31
Marlins placed RHP Huascar Brazoban on the restricted list.
The 34-year-old hurler had dealt with visa issues that delayed his arrival to spring training, so this will allow the Marlins to utilize an extra spot on their 40-man roster until he gets things sorted out. There’s some speculation this move could pave the way for Vladimir Gutierrez to crack the team’s Opening Day roster.
