Vaughn Grissom went 2-for-3 with an RBI in a 3-1 win over the Rays on Sunday.
Grissom also drew a walk. He opened the scoring with a double in the third to score Jarren Duran. Grissom finished the year with a borderline revolting .190/.246/.219 slash, but there were good moments in the minors, and keep in mind he’s still just 23-years-old. It’s not the craziest notion that a breakout season comes in 2025.

Vaughn Grissom went 3-for-4 with a run scored on Friday against the Rays.
It’s been nice to see Grissom come up and get some regular playing time during this final week in what was otherwise a mess of a season. All three of his hits came on inside fastballs and he dumped two of them in nearly the exact same spot in left field at right around 105 MPH each. The other he fisted into shallow left field, which is technically a line drive in the books. This was his second three-hit game in his last three appearances as he looks to wedge himself into the Red Sox infield mix for 2025.

Vaughn Grissom went 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a steal in a win over the Blue Jays.
Grissom is getting a chance to start at the end of the season with Rafael Devers sidelined, and he’s trying to make the most of it. In four games, Grissom is 4-for-12 with one run scored, two RBI, and two steals. The Red Sox have an infusion of young prospects on the verge of MLB call-ups, but they gave up a lot to get Grissom this offseason, so they will give him every chance to earn the starting 2B job in 2025.

Vaughn Grissom went 1-for-4 with a single and steal in a win over the Twins.
Grissom figures to get everyday playing time down the stretch with Rafael Devers out for the season and Romy Gonzalez shifting over to third base. It’s been a lost year for Grissom, who has battled multiple injuries and been forced to spend much of the year getting his timing back in the minors; however, the 23-year-old could create some momentum to carry over into 2025.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Rafael Devers will undergo an MRI on Saturday and probably won’t play against this season.
Devers has been limited by his right shoulder for weeks, and it looks like he’s finally calling it with the Red Sox essentially done. Boston could finish out the season with Nick Sogard and Romy Gonzalez at third and give Vaughn Grissom a brief look at second.

Red Sox recalled INF Vaughn Grissom from Triple-A Worcester.
Grissom is up to take the roster spot of Rob Refsnyder with Refsnyder out for the year due to a forearm strain. The 23-year-old should see playing time over the final week-plus, even with a crowded roster in front of him. Grissom still has some long-term appeal, but can be avoided for these final few games in redraft leagues.
  • BOS Shortstop #5
Vaughn Grissom hit a three-run homer and walked Sunday for Triple-A Worcester.
Grissom might finally have found his stroke; he’s hit .393 with two homers and 13 RBI in his last seven games. It’s probably too late to put him into Boston’s plans for this month, but a strong finish would make him a more interesting option going into what figures to be a pretty crowded second base situations next year.
  • BOS Shortstop #5
Red Sox activated 2B/SS Vaughn Grissom from the 10-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Worcester.
It’s ostensibly been a lost season for Grissom, who has been limited to just 23 games in his Red Sox debut due to various injuries and ailments. The 23-year-old former top prospect will continue to play everyday at Triple-A Worcester and remains without a clear timetable to return to Boston’s middle infield mix, which currently has Ceddanne Rafaela, David Hamilton, Romy Gonzalez and rookie Nick Sogard splitting time between both spots.

Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) blasted a two-run homer on Thursday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Worcester.
Grissom has been a complete afterthought this season as he’s been limited to just 23 games in his Red Sox debut due to injuries. There’s a strong possibility he’s optioned to the minors once his latest rehab assignment wraps up.
  • BOS Shortstop #5
The Red Sox could be leaning towards sending down Vaughn Grissom instead of activating him from the IL once his rehab assignment concludes.
Grissom’s rehab assignment for his strained hamstring is due to expire on Aug. 9, so there’s still considerable time left with which to make a decision. He’s thus far gone 6-for-26 with one double and four walks for Triple-A Worcester.
