  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo pitched five innings of one-run ball against the Twins on Thursday.
A Carlos Correa homer was the only damage, even though Bellozo allowed five other hits. He winds up the year with a nice 3.67 ERA in 13 starts, though his 44/21 K/BB and 15 homers surrendered in 68 2/3 innings are discouraging. He’ll probably open next year back in Triple-A, but he should again see plenty of time in the majors.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo surrendered three runs with three strikeouts across 5 1/3 innings in win over the Braves on Friday.
Bellozo worked around plenty of traffic on the bases and lots of hard contact to earn a surprising win over a Braves team that desperately needed it. A true throwback, Bellozo mixes five pitches that he can spot all over the strike zone without any dominant swing-and-miss stuff. Command is vital when one’s fastball tops out at 92 MPH and Bellozo’s was good enough in this one. He’s scheduled to face the Twins in Minnesota next time out.

Valente Bellozo allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.
Bellozo worked around two baserunners in the first inning, then served up a solo homer to Joey Gallo in the second. Two singles in the fourth brought a second run in to score for the Nationals. He tossed a scoreless fifth and surrendered a solo homer to José Tena in the sixth that would end his day. Bellozo struck out four. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 3.70 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a 39/19 K/BB ratio across 58 1/3 innings into a start against the Braves in Miami on Friday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo allowed three runs (one earned) in 5 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Pirates on Monday.
Bellozo gave up six hits, walked one and struck out two. He hasn’t won any of his last five starts and has a a 4.97 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings in that time. Bellozo is off the fantasy radar mostly because of his lack of strikeouts. He has a 3.57 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 35 strikeouts in 53 innings over 10 starts this year. The 24-year-old rookie right-hander is set to face the Nationals on the road this weekend.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo fired six shutout innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Nationals.
Bellozo did his part on Wednesday evening, limiting Washington’s upstart lineup to just three hits and one walk over six frames. It was a much-needed bounce-back outing after being roughed up for 12 runs combined over his previous two starts. He’ll face the Pirates on Monday in his next outing.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo was obliterated for six runs over four innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Rockies.
Bellozo predictably struggled in his first exposure to Coors Field, surrendering eight batted ball with an exit velocity in excess of 95 mph, with half of those going for extra-base hits. He surrendered seven hits total, including three home runs. Not great. The 24-year-old rookie lacks the type of strikeout upside to merit consideration for a roster spot in shallow mixed leagues, but he’s compiled a serviceable 4.32 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 32/15 K/BB ratio across 41 2/3 innings (eight starts). He’ll face the Nationals on Wednesday in his next outing.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo gave up six runs — five earned — in a loss to the Cubs on Saturday while throwing 4 2/3 innings.
Bellozo gave up seven hits, which isn’t great, and three of those hits were homers, which is considerably worse. He also walked five and struck out just one. The 24-year-old has mostly been effective, but he was due for some regression, and regression sure did come against the Cubs on Saturday. He still has a 3.35 ERA, and will try to bounce back Thursday in a start scheduled against the Rockies. It’s worth pointing out that start comes in Colorado.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs across 5 1/3 innings on Sunday in a no-decision against the Mets.
There aren’t many pitchers in baseball like Bellozo. He mixes a lot of junk around the edges to keep hitters off-balance. That approach won’t often generate many strikeouts, as he’s punched out exactly four in three straight starts, but it can keep runs off the board. He has a 1.57 ERA in four August starts. He had shut the Mets out through four innings before his velocity dropped sharply into the upper-80s as Miami tried to nurse him through six innings. He’s a potential deep-league worthy streaming option in his next scheduled start at home against the Cubs.

Valente Bellozo threw seven shutout innings in a win over the Phillies on Tuesday, allowing four hits while striking out four.
It wasn’t an overpowering performance for Bellozo, who induced just six whiffs on 45 swings for a 13 percent whiff rate and 24 percent CSW. He also allowed six hard-hit baseballs and two extra-base hits, but he kept the Phillies off the scoreboard and that’s all that matters. The 24-year-old has now allowed just two total earned runs in 17 2/3 innings in his last three starts against the Braves, Reds, and Phillies. Not bad. He’ll take a 2.28 ERA into a tough start against the Diamondbacks next week and his poor minor league numbers suggest that this won’t last.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo registered the first victory of his MLB career on Wednesday, hurling 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball against the Reds.
The 24-year-old right-hander scattered five hits and a pair of walks on the evening while striking out four batters. The Reds loaded the bases against him in the second inning, but Bellozo was able to freeze Jonathan India on a 2-2 fastball to end the threat. He generated nine swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He could be worth a look as a streaming option as he brings a 3.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 19/5 K/BB ratio (20 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
