Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI as the A’s came back to defeat the Cubs 5-3 on Wednesday.
The second RBI came on a grounder to second that Nico Hoerner decided to throw home on. A better effort would have had Zack Gelof at the plate, but Hoerner didn’t get enough on the throw. Soderstrom’s homer was his first in four games since he came off the IL and eighth in 181 plate appearances this season. He’s showed enough to make it likely that he’ll go into 2025 as Oakland’s primary first baseman, even if he has some competition in the form of Ryan Noda and maybe Seth Brown.

Athletics activated C Tyler Soderstrom from the 10-day injured list.
Soderstrom has been on the injured list since July 11th with a bone bruise in his left wrist. He’s hit .219 with seven home runs and 20 RBI this year.

Tyler Soderstrom went 3-for-4 with a triple and a walk for Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Soderstrom is 6-for-13 with two homers and three walks through four games on his rehab assignment, so one imagines he’ll be back this weekend. He’s been on the IL since July 11 with a bone bruise in his left wrist.

Tyler Soderstrom went 0-for-3 in his second rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
Being asked to face Max Scherzer in a rehab game just doesn’t seem fair. Soderstrom did homer as a DH in his first appearance Thursday. He played first base for six innings on Saturday. Soderstrom has been on the IL since July 11 with a bone bruise in his left wrist.

Athletics placed C/1B Tyler Soderstrom on the 10-day injured list with a left wrist bone bruise.
No word yet on how long Soderstrom will be sidelined, but he heads to the injured list after posting a .711 OPS with seven homers and 20 RBI across 166 plate appearances this season. The 22-year-old former top prospect simply hasn’t found his footing at the highest level, but he’ll presumably continue to get plenty of time to continue trying to figure it out.

Tyler Soderstrom hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Twins on Saturday.
Even in a blowout loss, Soderstrom was able to impress as he has for the overwhelming majority of June. What was a slash of .182/.308/.318 coming into the month now sits at .250/.353/.480, and the blast was his sixth homer of the season. Soderstrom was a first-round pick for a reason, and he deserves some attention from those who need help at the corner-infield spot.

Tyler Soderstrom clubbed his fifth home run of the season on Sunday night as the Athletics dropped the nightcap of their doubleheader against the Twins.
Soderstrom’s 421-foot (105.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Chris Paddack tied the game at 5-5 in the third inning and chased the Twins’ right-hander from the ballgame. The 22-year-old slugger added an RBI single in the seventh inning, finishing the night 3-for-4. He has been a pleasant surprise in the middle of the A’s lineup this season, slashing .250/.357/.464 with five long balls and 13 RBI in his first 98 plate appearances.

Tyler Soderstrom went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Twins on Thursday.
Soderstrom took Joe Ryan out in the second inning for a two-run home run when Ryan hung a splitter. It was his fourth home run of the season. Soderstrom once again started at first base. Fantasy managers will have to wait for him to get more starts at catcher so he could gain some fantasy relevancy.

Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk versus the Padres on Tuesday.
Soderstrom has homered in back-to-back games, raising his OPS from .622 to .760, and tonight’s tied the game in the eighth inning. Now that the A’s seem to have committed to Soderstrom at first base against righties, he’s of some interest in leagues in which he qualifies at catcher. He doesn’t yet in traditional leagues, as he spent more time at DH than anywhere else in 45-game stint with the A’s last year. He’s appeared in just one major league game at catcher this season, playing four innings off the bench. Tonight’s start was his 19th at first base.

Tyler Soderstrom is starting at first base for the Athletics against the Mariners on Thursday.
Soderstrom will hit seventh and play first base with J.D. Davis taking a seat. With Davis hitting just .229 on the year, there’s been a chance for the 22-year-old Soderstrom to carve out more playing time. Unfortunately, he’s not hitting well himself, slashing .174/.309/.304 with a 42 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers in deep leagues can keep an eye on Sodestrom to see if he can pick it up and earn more at-bats, but he’s not rosterable in leagues right now.
