Tyler Nevin has signed with the Seibu Lions of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Nevin got into a career-high 87 contests this past season for the Athletics, batting .204/.288/.331 with seven homers and one steal in 278 plate appearances. The 27-year-old first baseman hasn’t hit for enough power at the highest level to warrant consideration for an everyday opportunity, but it wouldn’t be shocking if he wound up excelling overseas in Japan’s hitter-friendly environment.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Athletics sent INF/OF Tyler Nevin outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Nevin wasn’t claimed off waivers, and will either be a non-roster invite for Oakland or hit free agency. EIther way, there’s no fantasy potential in his right-handed bat.
  • ATH Left Fielder #25
Athletics placed OF Brent Rooker on the paternity list.
Tyler Nevin figures to get some at-bats in Rooker’s place these next two days. Rooker should be back after Oakland’s off day Friday.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Tyler Nevin (illness) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays.
Nevin is at first base and batting eighth on Saturday afternoon following a two-game absence due to illness.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Tyler Nevin was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup for the game against the White Sox.
No word yet on the reason. Nevin probably wouldn’t have been in the lineup originally today if not for Seth Brown going on paternity leave. Armando Alvarez replaced him at first base.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Athletics selected the contract of INF Tyler Nevin from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Nevin is back in Oakland’s corner infield mix for Tuesday’s game against the Royals after spending the last few weeks back in the minors waiting for another opportunity at the highest level. He’s not much of a factor for fantasy managers outside of AL-only formats.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Athletics sent INF Tyler Nevin outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Nevin was designated for assignment on Tuesday and cleared waivers. He hit .220 with four home runs in 40 games for the Athletics. Nevin slumped badly in May going 3-for-47 (.064) with one home run. He’ll look to get his bat going again in Triple-A.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Athletics designated INF Tyler Nevin for assignment.
Nevin hit .220 with four homers and a .649 OPS while he was with Oakland. He now hits the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed he’ll likely report back to Triple-A Las Vegas.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Tyler Nevin went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday, propelling the Athletics to a 4-0 victory over the Pirates.
Nevin has homered four times in his last seven games and continues to quietly emerge as a impact contributor for the Athletics. The 26-year-old first baseman is batting .325 (26-for-80) with four homers, 10 RBI and one steal in 25 games in his Oakland debut.
  • ATH First Baseman #26
Tyler Nevin went 2-for-3 with a homer against the Pirates in Monday’s win.
It was his third homer. Nevin has a nice .301/.350/.452 line in 80 plate appearances for the A’s, but the exit velocity numbers aren’t really there to back it up and he might find himself out of favor once the A’s get healthier; it’s doubtful he would have been claimed in the first place if not for Miguel Andujar’s injury.
