Adcock has been cut loose after going unclaimed on waivers following his removal from New York’s 40-man roster earlier this week at the trade deadline. The 27-year-old righty made just three relief appearances for the Mets after being claimed off waivers back in late May from the Mariners.

He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Mets.

Adcock had struggled this year with a 9.00 ERA in six innings for the Tigers in Triple-A while striking out nine and walking six. He had also struggled in two innings at Triple-A for the Mariners and was waived in April. However, the 27-year-old was solid as a rookie in 2023, pitching to a 3.45 ERA across 12 appearances, so the Mets will hope to recapture some of that.

Adcock was claimed off waivers from the Mariners last month and didn’t end up making an appearance for Detroit. There’s a chance he passes through waivers unclaimed and remains with the organization. The 27-year-old made 12 appearances last year for the Mariners as a rookie.

Adcock struggled in his two Cactus League appearances, posting a 13.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 1/0 K/BB ratio in his two innings of work. He’ll begin the season as extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Tacoma.

Adcock heads back to the minors after posting a respectable 3.45 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 11/0 K/BB ratio across 15 2/3 innings (12 appearances) in his first taste of the majors. The 26-year-old righty figures to return in a couple weeks.
