Tucupita Marcano has been banned from baseball for life for violating Major League Baseball’s betting policy.
This was first reported by Lindsay Adler and Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal on Monday, and now it’s official. The investigation by MLB found that Marcano bet more than $150,000 on baseball, with $87,319 of that on bets related to baseball. The league did determine the bets didn’t compromise the outcomes of any games, but that won’t change Marcano’s status.

Tucupita Marcano could receive a lifetime ban from MLB for betting on baseball, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.
That’d be awfully unfortunate for Marcano, a 24-year-old who has been out since last August due to a torn ACL and was slated to resume playing in minor league games sometime soon. Marcano hit .217/.269/.320 in 447 at-bats for the Padres and Pirates from 2021-23.

Padres placed INF Tucupita Marcano on the 10-day injured list with a right knee injury.
The 24-year-old infielder continues to work his way back from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. It’s actually encouraging that he was only placed on the 10-day IL and not the 60-day IL, as it means he’s making good progress and the Padres want to have the option to bring him back earlier in the season.

Tucupita Marcano (knee) has resumed hitting.
Marcano has yet to be fully cleared to resume running, but he’s begun swinging and facing live pitching in Padres camp. The 24-year-old infielder, who will be sidelined to open the season while recovering from last August’s surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee, was claimed off waivers last November from the Pirates.

Padres claimed INF Tucupita Marcano off waivers from the Pirates.
Marcano has been gobbled up off waivers at the outset of the offseason as extra infield depth for San Diego moving forward. The 24-year-old infielder, who was a highly-regarded prospect in the Pirates’ organization just a few years ago, is likely to miss the majority of the 2024 campaign after undergoing surgery in August to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. He’s a worthwhile lottery ticket for the Padres.

Tucupita Marcano will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.
Marcano will need to wait a few weeks for the swelling to subside before undergoing the procedure. There isn’t a clear timeline for his return yet, but he’s likely going to wind up missing some time in the early stages of the 2024 season as well.

Tucupita Marcano told reporters on Sunday that he’s likely to undergo surgery on his injured right knee.
The 23-year-old infielder is still being evaluated by team doctors, but surgery is the most likely outcome. Marcano suffered the right knee ligament injury when he stepped awkwardly on third base during Monday’s game against the Padres.

Pirates placed INF Tucupita Marcano on the 60-day injured list with a right knee ligament injury.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury during Monday’s game against the Padres when he stepped awkwardly on third base and crumpled into a heap. The Pirates are hopeful that he’ll be fully recovered and ready for spring training in 2024.

The Pirates announced that Tucupita Marcano is dealing with ligament damage in his right knee.
The 23-year-old infielder sustained the injury as he struck third base awkwardly during Monday’s game against the Padres. He’ll undergo additional imaging and testing to determine the full severity of the injury, but it sounds like Marcano is heading for an extended stint on the injured list regardless of the findings.

Tucupita Marcano was removed from Monday night’s game against the Padres after injuring his right knee.
The 23-year-old stepped awkwardly on third base and crumpled to the ground in a heap. He had to be helped off the field and was unable to put any weight on his right knee. He’ll head for further testing, but it’s highly likely that a trip to the injured list is in the cards.
