Tristan Beck allowed one run in four innings and got a no-decision in the Giants’ 6-5 victory over the Cardinals on Saturday.
Beck gave up four hits, walked two and struck out three. It was his first start of the season after exclusively pitching out of the bullpen for the Giants. Beck had thrown multiple innings out of the bullpen on occasion. He threw 72 pitches. Beck ends the season with a 1.69 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 14 strikeouts in 16 innings for the Giants.

The Giants have scratched Blake Snell and will start Tristan Beck in Saturday’s game versus the Cardinals.
Snell’s season ends at 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA and a 145/44 K/BB in 104 innings. All signs point to him opting out of his deal with the Giants and returning to free agency, where he’ll, uhhhh, surely enjoy a much more robust market than he did in coming off a Cy Young campaign in 2023.

Giants reinstated RHP Tristan Beck off the 60-day injured list.
Beck has yet to make an appearance for the Giants while working his way back from an aneurysm in his right arm. The right-hander gives the team a multi-inning option, and he could even get a chance to make starts for San Francisco before the year is over.

Tristan Beck allowed an unearned run over three innings Tuesday in his second rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento.
Beck is making his way back from an aneurysm in his pitching arm suffered this spring. He’s more likely to help the Giants as a reliever than as a starter down the stretch, but the team is keeping its options open for now.

Tristan Beck, who had surgery this spring for an aneurysm in his right arm, will being a rehab assignment on Thursday.
Beck was expected to open up the season in the Giants rotation before his health scare, but he’ll probably be viewed as a reliever now. He had a 3.93 ERA in three starts and 30 relief appearances for San Francisco last year.

The Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly reports Mason Black “appears poised” to make the Giants’ season-opening rotation.
It’s certainly an interesting development as Black remains in contention for the final spot in San Francisco’s Opening Day mix replacing injured starters Alex Cobb (hip), Tristan Beck (arm) and Sean Hjelle (elbow). The 24-year-old righty struck out 30 percent of the batters he faced across 123 2/3 innings (29 starts) last year between Double-A Richmond and Triple-A Sacramento. He’s too risky to trust as a fantasy option right out of the gate, but he’s certainly worth monitoring closely in deeper mixed leagues.

Tristan Beck had successful surgery to repair an arm aneurysm.
Beck will now rest for the next eight weeks before getting back to throwing sessions. The 27-year-old was expected to be the fifth and final starter for the Giants this season, but now the club is scrambling to fill that role with just a few weeks until Opening Day.

Giants placed RHP Tristan Beck on the 60-day injured list.
It’s being officially described as a vascular injury for Beck, according to the team, as he’s set to undergo surgery Monday to address the aneurysm in his upper right arm. There should be a clearer timetable for his potential return following the procedure, but he’ll miss at least the first two months of the year for now. The 27-year-old righty was expected to open the season as San Francisco’s fifth starter.

Tristan Beck will undergo surgery Monday to address the aneurysm in his upper right arm.
There won’t be a clear timetable for Beck’s potential return until after the procedure, but he’s certainly facing an extended absence. The 27-year-old righty was the favorite to open the season as San Francisco’s fifth starter, but that won’t happen now. His departure from the rotation picture creates a short-term opportunity for Sean Hjelle, who is converting to a starting role this spring.

Tristan Beck will be shut down from throwing indefinitely after being diagnosed with an aneurysm in his upper right arm.
Giants manager Bob Melvin has already ruled Beck out for Opening Day. Beck went to Stanford to see a vascular specialist and will weigh his treatment options over the next few days. The 27-year-old right-hander was expected to be the Giants’ fifth starter, but that will be on pause until a decision is made from Beck and the medical professionals. His absence adds to the several San Francisco is dealing with heading into the 2024 season, as Robbie Ray (elbow) isn’t expected to pitch until the second half of the season and Alex Cobb (hip) is trying to work his way back for Opening Day.
