Angels re-assigned RHPs Travis MacGregor, Joel Hurtado, Jose Marte, Carmen Minacci, Alan Rangel and Hayden Sieg, LHPs Nick Jones, Cs Juan Flores and Zach Humphreys, INF Evan White and OFs Nelson Rada and Alberto Rios to minor league camp.
Nothing too surprising among this first large batch of cuts for the Angels. MacGregor, 26, was in camp as a non-roster invitee after posting a respectable 3.82 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and an 84/31 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis for the Pirates in 2023. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him debut in Los Angeles during the upcoming season.

Angels signed RHP Travis MacGregor to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
MacGregor was a second-round pick of the Pirates back in 2016, but has yet to reach the majors. The 26-year-old righty posted a respectable 3.82 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 84/31 K/BB ratio across 77 2/3 innings (43 appearances, three starts) this past season between Double-A Altoona and Triple-A Indianapolis.

Pirates RHP prospect Travis MacGregor threw six scoreless innings on Thursday for Low-A West Virginia.
MacGregor gave up just three hits, and while he did walk two, he compensated with six strikeouts. A second-round pick in 2016, MacGregor has been brought along slowly, but the 20-year-old right-hander now has a 0.73 ERA and 20 strikeouts in his first 12 innings of full-season baseball. He’s still filling out his frame but he can get his fastball up to 97 mph, and he shows two solid -- but inconsistent -- offspeed pitches. He’s nowhere close to a finished project, but this is another Pittsburgh hurler who offers some upside long-term.
