Travis Jankowski is in left field and batting eighth on Saturday against the Athletics.
Jankowski went unclaimed after being placed on waivers earlier this week and will remain with the Rangers for the remainder of the season. There was a chance another organization would pick up the 33-year-old as a defensive replacement or pinch-running specialist, but it didn’t happen.
  • TEX Right Fielder #53
Adolis García is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s bout against the Rays.
García will take a seat to begin Sunday’s game as he continues to struggle with a .215/.280/.413 slash, and he’s gone hitless in his last 10 at-bats over three games. Travis Jankowski will be the starting right fielder with Derek Hill the designated hitter.

Travis Jankowski smacked a two-run single on Thursday, lifting the Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Nationals.
Jankowski came off the bench and padded Texas’ late lead with a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning. The 32-year-old veteran outfielder has played sparingly this season due to the Rangers’ tremendous position player depth, but he remains an extremely valuable bench component for the defending World Series champions.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager and Adolis García are not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Reds.
It’s a routine off day for both Seager and Garcìa with Josh Smith at shortstop and Travis Jankowski taking over in right field. The 30-year-old superstar shortstop could probably use a day off after suffering a left shin contusion earlier this week when he was hit by a pitch. The dynamic duo should return for Sunday’s series finale.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford is getting his first day off as the Rangers take on the Athletics on Wednesday night in Arlington.
The 22-year-old phenom has started each of the team’s first 11 games to begin the 2024 season. He’s still searching for his first home run at the big league level — hitting .261/.314/.326 with four runs scored, six RBI and a 10/4 K/BB ratio through his first 51 plate appearances. Travis Jankowski will serve as the team’s designated hitter and will bat eighth against Ross Stripling and the Athletics on Wednesday.

Leody Taveras is out of the lineup for Monday’s game against the Rays.
Taveras will get a day off against the Rays on Monday as the Rangers will likely move around their talented young outfielder in the early days. Travis Jankowski will get the start in center for the Rangers while Taveras rests.

Rangers re-signed OF Travis Jankowski to a one-year contract.
ESPN’s Buster Olney said the deal is worth $1.75 million. Jankowski figures to occupy a spot on the Rangers’ bench, but he could get significant playing time initially if Wyatt Langford opens up in Triple-A. If Langford makes the team, then Jankowski will likely be a pinch-runner primarily.

The Rangers are re-signing Travis Jankowski to a one-year contract, said GM Chris Young.
ESPN’s Buster Olney says the deal is worth $1.7 million. Kind of a weird thing here in that the GM announced a pending deal that doesn’t yet seem to be an official transaction, but that just gives us the chance to write about it again in day or two. Jankowski faded late last season, but he was pretty useful in hitting .263/.357/.332 in 287 plate appearances for the Rangers. He was also 19-for-20 stealing bases. He should have less of a role this year with Evan Carter up and Wyatt Langford on the way.

Travis Jankowski is in right field and batting ninth on Wednesday for Game 5 of the World Series against the Diamondbacks.
It’ll be Jankowski, who collected a pair of RBI during Tuesday’s Game 4 victory, in right field once again on Wednesday night in place of an injured Adolis García. The Rangers have an opportunity to take home the first World Series title in franchise history at Chase Field in Arizona following a pair of impressive road victories earlier this week. Here’s the full lineup: Marcus Semien (2B), Corey Seager (SS), Evan Carter (LF), Mitch Garver (DH), Josh Jung (3B), Nathaniel Lowe (1B), Jonah Heim (CF), Leody Taveras (CF) and Jankowski (RF).

Travis Jankowski filled in nicely for the injured Adolis García in Game 4 of the World Series on Tuesday night, going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Diamondbacks.
Jankowski smacked a two-out single into center off of Miguel Castro in the second inning, then dashed around to score on Marcus Semien’s two-run triple. Jankowski then plated two runs of his own with a double off of Luis Frias in the third inning that made it a 7-0 ballgame. He then rode home on Semien’s three-run shot. That’s probably more than enough to earn another start in right field for Game 5 of the series.
